after 27 SEC games, not a single batter is in double digits in HRs, in fact nobody is close to 10 HRs yet in SEC play

the team leaders for HR in SEC play are Hernamdez with 6 and Milam with 6

In SEC play Jones has the most Ks with 43, the next closest player is Braswell with only 29

We still don't know that but yea he might be gone since our entire OF is back unless Stanfield decides to go pro which if so would open a spot for Larson.

He needs to get pissed off with his bat, not just have a civil convo with it.

Risk-Reward...All Power Hitters i grew up watching from McGwire; Bonds; Canseco; Sosa ; even as a little toddler Reggie Jackson & Mike Schmidt ALL led their teams in BOTH " Home Runs & Strikeouts"
...kinda just comes w the territory

Yesterday Jones LINE DRIVE Out scorched to 3B Was Hit so Hard ....Ben McDonald said "baseball was shaped like an EGG"" Lol

His K% up to 23% on the season. Highest among qualified hitters on the team.

Jones has been here for 3 years and always been like this. Power guys strike out a lot and have bad days. The lineup is still better with him in it.

Even Freshman phenom Curiel was only 3 - 13 with 5 Ks

Curiel is incredibly talented, but this is his first season in the SEC. What he's doing is amazing. But to compare him to Jones who's in his third season now is ridiculous.

The only thing I’m going to comment on is Bonds. He NEVER led his team in strikeouts. He struck out over 100 times in a season exactly once. That was his rookie year and he had 102 strikeouts. I hate Bonds with a passion, but being objective he was one of the best hitters of all time and didn’t strike out much. He actually had a couple of years where he hit more homers than he struck out. In 2004 he had 45 home runs and struck out a measly 41 times. His career k% is 12.2%. You know who else had a career k% of 12.2%? Willie Mays.

he is second on the team in OPS, which is the most important basic stat (you might make an argument for WOBA or offensive WAR/pecota/VORP etc but OPS is good enough)

he is fine. he gets on base, he hits for power. ignore batting average and strikeouts.

we concede that unlike bonds, Jones is not the most devastating force in the history of team sports.

generally the players that lead the league in K are awesome power hitters that also take lots of walks. you don't need to worry about Ks. worry about outs made. don't worry about how they are made.

Thats an incorrect statement as well! All OUTS are not weighted equally. Easy example, runner on 3rd less than 2 outs. A guy who strikes out won’t get the runner home 99.9% of the time. A guy who can make contact has an infinitely better chance of bringing said runner home.

I think he is what he is. Struggles with good pitching and inflates his numbers on awful pitchers.

Yes, but is it better with him in 2 hole? Would like to Frey there. Hitting SEC pitching better, and mire of a speed threat (old school, I know)

He has a long ways to go to get out of single a ball....maybe better hitting coach idk but he has turned into a liability. I wish they would move him to the 5 hole

Disagree. He’s exactly what MLB wants.

Barely over .200, K early and often, run into an HR here and there and we’ll strobe the stadium lights and light fireworks.

Seems like he's leaning back more and more and comes back upright at the last second. He's always done that just appears to be even more so this year, but I havent comparted. Seems like a tough way to reach a breaking ball on the low outside portion of the plate if you're coming from leaning back and away......

I have no idea really, just throwing this out there.

That’s all power hitters now. You take the Ks because the power outweighs it.

SEC pitching is better than Single A pitching.
