College football has been pretty lame in the scheduling of non conference games department. Some teams do it well while others like Florida schedule the Girl Scouts of America.

The reason for that is money. Schools are too chicken shite to schedule anyone because they are too scared to lose a game and therefore miss out on the big money that is the playoffs or a NY6 bowl.

The thing that wood spice up college football wood be to have games in week 0 that will feature really intriguing matchups but that won’t count in the win loss column. Just a scrimmage.

Since it woodnt count against you, you would get some participation. LSU vs Clemson. Ohio State vs Alabama. Georgia vs. Oregon. Florida versus Penn State. Auburn vs Oklahoma etc.

Gone wood be the days of wondering which conference is better. They wood have a really clear picture already.

It wood help with the pre playoff rankings for the AP and Coaches Polls. It would even help to put the actual schedules that these teams play in perspective when evaluating womb had a tougher schedule. They could rank the conferences. The committee wood have actual grounds for ranking one team higher than another based in part on how overall the teams and conferences performed in the Jam.

I don’t know why they haven’t considered this.

Scrimmages will not spice up college football. These would be a snooze fest.

There wood be some other benefits too. You could get the backups in the second half against the backups on the other team. It’s hard to do during the season and you want the backups to get reps in a game like setting.

You could also have the Jam replace the spring game.I still like the idea of having it closer to the season so you could get that added benefit of using it to rank teams. AP and Coaches would be more accurate. What team is better and what conference is better wood not be just a shoot in the dark.

A snooze fest? You wouldn’t watch an LSU vs Ohio State Jamboree?

I don’t buy that knot for one minute. College football fans travel to see their team play the Utah State and Georgia Southerns of the world.

Wood live this. Play 24 minute haves, running clock til the last two minutes. Get like 4 regional teams or two regional teams and a markee matchup.

Absolutely because since it doesn't count neither team would show shite and it would be like a spring game.

You must not have played football. No matter when you set the ball down, competition happens. You remember that “it’s not in the playbook but it should be” Michael Vick commercial. It would be our dudes verse there dudes. I would pay oil field money to wash that one.

Why do you keep saying wood instead of would

Not a bad idea in theory but no way it would happen

They aren’t conflicting. It effects rankings but not the win loss column. It’s not going to keep teams from making the playoffs. It’s a great way to have different teams playing eachother in matchups they would have wanted to see in order to make informed decisions down the road.

I said a part of the criteria. Obviously, you still have the season to evaluate.

My response would be it depends on first what LSU and Ohio State did during the season. How many ranked wins? How dominant did they look? Stats etc.

How did Ohio State look against Wisconsin? How did LSU look against Auburn? That would be important.

What did the 1s vs 1s look like during that Jam. You would take out the performance of the 2s vs 2s.

It also woodnt be just those two jams. Keep in mind you are also evaluating how whole conferences looked and you are comparing common opponents across the boards. Sure, it’s not all sec vs big ten matchups but you will have so much to go on then had those scrimmages knot been played at all.

What we have now is they take a wild arse guess as to who had the tougher conference and schedules. Anything is better than that.

Yes it is a scrimmage it would be no different than the spring game. I would love to go to see LSU play at OSU but I am not going to watch a scrimmage.

Be real right now. It’s the second to last week of August or something. The game is on television. You would have been waiting for that game to come on all offseason.

What happens when 2 teams that played each other in these scrimmages are #4 and 5 going into the selection show? If it’s going to affect rankings that’s honestly more important than the record. We’ve already seen 2 loss teams get in over 1 loss teams.

My thot is what happens during the season matters most. How dominant and who they had beaten comes first. The jamborees would be a measuring stick to evaluate who played tougher opponents and how strong each conference is.

If Ohio State’s best win was Wisconsin and let’s say Georgia went out and dog walked Wisconsin. It was clear they didn’t have a better roster. You could count the Georgia win as a much better win than a win against Wisconsin.

The entire rankings would be based way more on the merits and on actual results than what we do now which is just basically guess and in most cases just use one criteria more than another.

Hell fricking no. No way LSU should risk injury in a game that doesn't mean anything. Would rather do intersquad scrimmages like they do already.
