How is Pitts as a blocker?

He is actually a top-notch blocker. However we saw Chase make some pretty great blocks in 2019, as well.

Why would you compare these two?

I think Chase goes to be reunited with Burrow in Cincy at #5 and Pitts ends up in Miami at #6

Chase is the best non-QB in this draft. He was 19 when he dominated Bama and Clemson’s best DBs.

Because NFL teams are trying to determine which of these two weapons to take in the draft.

If both were to line up in the slot (both will likely play there at times), who should a team take?

I like Chase in the slot because I think he can house a quick slant at any time while Pitts gives the length and catch radius.

Chase can play any of the wide receiver positions and even in the backfield for more creative offensive minds.

Pitts will mainly be a slot receiver. He’s not known for his blocking as an in line tight end according to most reports I’ve read.

Again, not the same receiver. No one is deciding between these two....Smith and Chase...yeah.

For sure. Of course for slot receivers (like what Pitts will likely be), you're often running routes where it's pretty advantageous to already be at X height, rather than spending time to load up and jump to full extension for it. Think quick slants and such. Still splitting hairs here though. Chase will likely be on the outside where full extension is going to happen at a much higher frequency. So yeah people are kinda comparing apples and oranges here, off the cuff I'd take Chase on the outside but if I'm drafting someone on the inside/slot, kinda ridiculous not to want Pitts.

Why would you stick a big, fast, and not insanely agile guy in the slot?

Right? Pitts is 6" taller and still gives up 1.5" in total peak...that's just insane.

Don’t know about that. Pitts wingspan was 83 3/8, which is insane and 8.5 inches more that Chase who measured with a below average wingspan.

Daniel Jeremiah's jaw dropped when he read the 3.98, saying anything under 4.0 is next level.

For reference, Brandin Cooks holds the record at 3.81.

Pitts has LONG arse arms, it’s way harder to bench with that. Chase (while absolutely a strong mf’er) has shorter arms which makes bench easier.

Not sure why we're going with TE vs WR comp here. I don't think a lot of teams are looking at Pitts as a slot WR conversion. I would bet he's being eyed as a Travis Kelce TE intended to be a primary weapon from the TE position creating ridiculous mismatches with a LB or S trying to cover him.

What were Pitts’ stats against LSU? What about their bowl game?

Might be right. Analysts have been mixed on his position.

Almost Jimmy Graham’s argument that he needed to be franchised as a wide receiver and not a tight end because he lined up as a receiver more than an in line tight end.

The comparison was not to suggest that they were the same player. The comparison was intended to discuss two ultra athletic weapons that will both create mismatches when moved around.

NFL folks were discussing all day the top ten picks and whether Pitts or Chase should be the selection.

After today, Davonte Smith wasn’t in the discussion. Perhaps it’s only because they both showed out on the same day.
