I actually much prefer Chase as #1.

I think I also prefer #7 to be a defensive back tradition..

Just my opinions though.

how?

its not just DBs that wear it.

We have had:

A Linebacker
A RB
2 WRS (3 if you count Giles)
and 3 DBs wear it

It goes to the most elite player on the team

This past year it was Chase

A lockdown corner is one of the most valuable positions you can have on a football field.

Is that why even the best cornerbacks in the NFL dont make nearly the same money as other positions?

e realize you can have a #7 on offense and defense?

You do realize Stingley and Chase may see the field at the same time. Stingley will probably play both ways next year.

Should have kept #1 after the season he had.

Agree. Wish he’d said “nah, I’m good with #1 being the WR standard.”

Why do people keep saying this? Nobody on the coaching staff has mentioned that Stingley will play both ways in his sophomore year. Coach O even said that if they do it, it would probably be in his third year. Stingley's father even mentioned that as well. I wouldn't expect Stingley to see action on the offensive end this season. Maybe in his final year he'll be given the opportunity, but I still wouldn't expect him to play offense much even as a junior.

Lol where do you people come from? He can't enter the draft until after his Junior season or three years after he finishes his highschool eligibility. Last season Stingley was a freshman and completed his first year after highschool. This upcoming season he will be a sophomore (one year). The next season he will a junior (two years).

I know that others have had it.

I just personally associate it more with the elite defensive backs is all.

That’s just my own feeling.

Of course Chase deserves it. I just really like that #1 for him.

I’m not losing sleep over it or anything. He’s the man.
