So why was there such a difference in production between Chase and Smith last year?
because Chase had the great Joe Burrow throwing him the ball while Smith had first year starter Mac Jones. Also Smith had two to share with Jeudy and Ruggs, while Chase just had Jefferson (in terms of first round talent type WR's, granted Marshal was good in the red zone)

Smith has much more tape.

Chase is better. Smith uses speed, Chase is speed and strength.

The strength is not even a question in Chase’s favor and will be a bigger deal in the NFL. Smith’s speed is unreal. I also think Chases’s strength will allow him to continue to be a better YAC receiver. With all that speed, Smith averages 5 yards less per catch against far worse pass defense and cb prospects.

Chase, every day by every possible metric.

U could view from his perspective were he had literally nothing to gain and everything to lose from playing this year.
Same could be said about Smith though. That’s the point you are missing.

Then why did Smith come back at all? I agree with you, but if he comes back as a senior and then decides to opt out, that would have been a waste of a year where he could have been getting paid.

Because it would appear that Smith actually enjoys the game as well as looks forward to an NFL career, whereas it would appear that Chase is simply chasing a big paycheck.

Slim Jim wasn’t even the second WR taken. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

If we are playing flag football where no one gets hit, maybe Devonta. Otherwise, Chase all day long.
166 pound NFL receivers rarely get long in the tooth.

The good one, & even more ridiculous is the 19 page chase vs Marshall thread that they won’t let me bump

Looks like LSU fans care way the frick more about Chase opting out than NFL scouts did.

How does anyone come up with that. Chase is bigger, better route runner, stronger and is just as fast. WTH??

Coming back for him was a business decision. He didn't stay at Bama because of his "love for the game." He stayed because last years WR draft class was loaded and he could raise his stock by coming back. He would have been a late 1st round pick last year at best.
