Well, truth is, we'll never know how good Livingston would have been. Plain and simple.

CJ was special. Always in control. The ball was just a part of his body - great hands, great touch, great quickness... a pure scoring machine.

Money, money, money.

yeah that is a given, but it would have been interesting had a injury free Livingston played a full career to judge him against Chris.

that being said I will say that it burns me up every time Tim Hardaway gets credit for startin the killer crossover when he knows damn well he got it from CJ in college after Chris smoked his arse.

hey cad, nice to see you again.

CJ was simply the most exciting LSU player I have ever seen with the ball in his hands.

RL was great, could have been one of the greatest...but....

I remeber the day I heard of his injury, broke my heart.

What I remember most vividly about RL was leading the NCAA in assists on basically one knee. Maybe he came back too soon?

Don't know that RL would ever have been the scorer CJ was, RL shot was a little strong. Kinda like Terry Martin and his 'line drive floater'

Chris Jackson was so much better then Livingston it is not close. I remeber him dribbling full speed and then on the run falling out of bounds hitting three's. It was sick.

Yeah, 'cause his Tourette Syndrome didn't have a thing to do with his physical debilitation and the end of his career.

frickstick.

Crossover had been done for years. I am a huge CJ fan but Hardway ate his lunch in the NCAA tourney that year. The reason we lost to UTEP.

In 1987, Chris Jackson and his Gulfport team came to Lake Charles for the Popeye's Classic at St. Louis High School. They made it to the championship game against Washington Marion. It was standing room only. Chris Jackson scored 55 points, including 9 - three ponters in a row. He was shooting them from 4 - 7 ft from the dang line. It was one of the most amazing performances that I had ever seen. Washington Marion didn't stand a chance.

Best game I ever saw Jackson play in was a triple OT(?) against Ole Miss & Gerald Glass.

It was...ridiculous.

Best personal play I ever saw was a non-conference game Jackson's fresh or soph. year; Jackson steals the ball in the paint, runs the length of the court....dribbles BACK OUTSIDE the 3-point line and drains it.

Chris Jackson is one of the greatest college basketball player Period. He could create his own shot, handle the rock, catch the oop. The quickest and smoothest stroke I have ever seen.

I still have that SI issue. I wanted a pair of those kicks so much back then.
Gotta love the jacket/t-shirt he was wearing too...it's a shame we dropped the "dunking tiger" logo.

crossover by the old timers like Cousy you mean, different style, much different, not the break your ankles kinda of shite of today. Hardaway had a good game against LSU that tourney your correct, but I don't think his explosiveness matched CJ's overall, Hardaway got the better of him that particular game, he was hot and it was one of CJ's not so impressive performances. but in the NBA that guy was unreal shooting just like he did at LSU, and could jump out a gym for his size, he threw down a number of alley oops, Hardaway couldn't touch that.

I've seen a lot of players through the years, as many of us have... and in this category, none were better than C.J. in my opinion. As far as catching a pass in transition, stopping on a dime, and going up with perfect form, I've never seen anyone quicker or more accurate.

While I didn't see C.J. in highschool, I did see R.L., I think against Beau Chene? B.C. or whoever the opponent was, had a very quick team with very athletic guards, and they damn near did everything to deny the ball all game, and did a heckuva job. In the last several minutes, R.L. completely took over the game, with no help from his Newman teammates. He was more of a Jason Kidd type player, smaller but with extraordinary leaping ability, as opposed to a C.J. shooter. But, then who has ever been like C.J.? R.L. definitely would have been great.
Nonetheless, didn't he get MVP of some pro league and win a championship a couple/few years ago after leaving the Rockets?

I saw Randy Livingston play several times in high school and he was AWESOME and would have been an all-american in college had he not gotten hurt. with that being said...Chris Jackson was simply the best college point guard i've ever seen play PERIOD. the guy was incredible.

I think that sums it up. But, here comes the Cecil Collins v. Kevin Faulk, et al B.S.
