re: Jalen Mills Arrested for Battery

Just wondering. So is your point that we have worse players, worse coaches, or we just tend to allow our starters to be banned more than others? All three or something completely different? I'm not trying to be flip, just trying to understand.

None of this. My only point was that LSU has had at least one starter arrested in each of the last 4 off seasons. That doesn't reflect poorly on the coaches because the total number of arrests is actually quite low.
Honestly, it's just a combination of poor decision making (which ALL 18-21 year old do more often than not) on the players' parts and bad luck. Anyone who wants to try and pretend that this is common go ahead, but the truth is it's not. I'm just sick of every offseason having one of our veteran starters hurt the team because they can't keep themselves out of trouble. Let me just add here that I don't think Mills should have been arrested, and that it seems to me that he just got caught in the middle of some crazy bitch fight.

RB10 made an interesting point, never criticized the coaches, and has been consistent throughout the thread. He even admitted his one error when confronted with facts.

Did you read my post from The Advocate on page 52? There are witnesses that say it was a woman that hit the victim. It's safe to say the details are sketchy.

No I didn't. I knew it was released that his girlfriend was going to come forward and admit to hitting the girl, but I didn't know there were witnesses that were going to back that story. That's good because, like I said, I didn't think the story seemed legit from the start. Mills was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught up in some crazy.

I'm calling dude out for acting like Miles runs a bad program and for acting like he had breaking news. He's wrong so why don't you add something. See how that works.

Dude, you literally brought NOTHING to this whole conversation. The other guy provided facts that showed I was wrong about LSU being the only team. Other than that nothing I said was untrue. In fact, in your first reply to me you took something completely out of context.

Please link to my post where I said one thing about Miles running a bad program. In fact, multiple times in this thread I said that it wasn't really on the coaches and that LSU's overall discipline is pretty good.

I was wrong in saying LSU was the ONLY program with one starter arrested or kicked off each of the last 4 years in the SEC. They are one of two programs to have had this happen. Other than that mistake everything else I said has been a fact and in no way incorrect.

Anymore more news?
The First Cut posted a link to an article earlier in the thread. Give me a second to go find it and re-post it since I've been one of the main people shitting all over this thread.
ETA: wasn't a link but here it is:
The attorney for Jalen Mills is amassing information to potentially challenge claims the LSU safety punched a woman, leaving her with four stitches in her lip and him arrested on counts of second-degree battery.
Attorney Brent Stockstill said Friday his own investigation into the incident at Mills’ Highland Road apartment has produced information from additional witnesses that Baton Rouge police did not interview after the altercation in early May, details he plans on passing along to the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office.
“There are a large number of people, at least five or six, that would have information,” Stockstill said. “I think it would be important for someone making their decision about what charge, if any, is going to be filed.”
Mills, 20, a junior from DeSoto, Texas, was arrested early Wednesday morning and bailed out later that afternoon, but he has been indefinitely suspended from the football team.
District Attorney Hillar Moore III confirmed no charges have been filed against Mills.
According to the warrant, a woman knocked on Mills’ door around 1 a.m. on May 4, which he opened before shutting. The woman knocked again, got no answer and walked away.
She told police she heard someone speak to her, turned around was punched in face the by the 6-foot, 195-pound defensive back, a blow that left the victim briefly unconscious.
The woman and another witness later picked Mills out of a six-person photo lineup, according to the warrant.
Stockstill, who worked as a prosecutor in Baton Rouge before becoming a criminal defense attorney, critiqued the details of the warrant, which he called “bare bones,” and said Mills may not have taken a swing at the woman.
“I have received information about that possibly being the case,” Stockstill said.
Stockstill said he’s spoken to witnesses in the past two days who “have information that was clearly not reflected in the warrant.”
“You will discover later on that there were a large number of people at Apartment 303,” Stockstill said. “Now, I can tell you too that the police have spoken to some of those people after they issued the warrant, but I think it’s kind of late.”
However, Stockstill said he does not dispute that “none of the parties involved knew each other.”
Police have obtained a statement from Mills after he was arrested, which came on the heels of skipping a meeting set on May 29 for 5 p.m. Tuesday in order to allow Mills to return to Baton Rouge from Houston.
Still, Stockstill declined to outline a counternarrative of events leading up to the victim being struck. Instead, he plans on passing any relevant details on “Monday or Tuesday” in meetings with Assistant District Attorney Steve Danielson.
Stockstill said he’s heard information that the woman was punched by another female, both of whom may have had interest in Mills, but could not say whether his own information corroborated that theory.
“I’ve heard a lot of things,” Stockstill said. “I’m not going to claim everything is true and correct until I know everything is true and correct.”
Asked to square up how a situation involving seeming strangers escalated, Stockstill passed on fleshing out the scenario.
“Quite frankly, if I told you everything I knew, I could fill in those blanks,” Stockstill said. “I’m not going to publicly release it.”

No charges should be filed. If anything Mills' attorney is saying is true then the arrest was a pretty big stretch to begin with. Maybe they didn't like mills blowing off that meeting?

Wisconsin so f*cked. Say what you want about our off-season mishaps, we take it out on our week 1 opponent.

Haven't been following the story. Did this come out in a news article or something? If so, Mills should be cleared of all charges, right?
