you're out of your mind. Mills is (was) probably the best guy in our secondary.

I don't think he's shown that at all.

Mills was the best guy in our secondary yet 2 freshmen beat him out at CB pushing him to safety?

Look, I think Mills would end up being decent at safety but to say he's our best secondary player is like saying James Wright was our best WR last season.

i'm not saying he's the best player in the secondary, but a big part of the reason he moved wasn't because two freshman beat him out but more so because we needed him at safety and he was the best option we had. had we had another option at safety, i have my doubts both of the freshman would have still been starting at corner

and this is just hyperbolic nonsense. you're comparing a guy with no catches on the season to a guy that started at his position the majority of the season and has been projected as a 1st to 2nd round draft pick

I love how people ate acting like he was ignoring multiple calls from the cops. He missed A call and the resulting voicemail. He did not ignore multiple calls. Furthermore, saying they scheduled a meeting with him at 5 in the tenth doesn't mean he agreed to the time. It means the cops decide bed that time.

In the end, if he's guilty he will suffer consequences, but I've seen enough people embellish and file false charges along with police cooperation to find the young man guilty without trial.

One witness also doesn't make it legit of it is a friend of the victim. I like how people already hung the guy with one side of the story.

In the end, his guilt will be determined in the courts. Until then, Miles and LSU have done the appropriate thing. I hope it's not true, but we will see.

regardless of the circumstances surrounding his appointment to speak with the investigator, he was under no obligation to do so. that would have been completely voluntary on his part and completely his right to refuse to speak (his refusal to speak cannot be used against him either). additionally, i'm glad you pointed out the appointment was at 5 PM. He missed that appointment at 5 and turned himself in at 10. So he had, at most, 5 hours to respond to said voicemail before warrants were issued for his arrest. I have nothing concrete to base this on, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was advised by an attorney not to meet with the investigator. Would not surprise me if he was told he was going to be charged regardless and it would be in his best interest not to give them anymore than they already had and not risk giving them a statement that could later be used against him. From experience, regardless of him being a "no show," him not giving a statement will likely work out better for him in the end.

if his girlfriend is, in fact, willing to testify to her being the one who actually struck the victim, i'd expect the charges to be dismissed. you have an admission of guilt by a third party. both sides' witnesses to the incident have conflicting stories. the corroborating witness for the victim has credibility issues because of her relationship to the victim. JM's girlfriend also has credibility issues based on her relationship to him. There are no objective third parties to the incident. This would all be circumstantial "he said she said" testimony from both sides. Not to mention the fact of her being knocked unconscious has yet to be confirmed. So in the end, this sounds like a case where it would be very unlikely a jury could determine anything beyond a reasonable doubt based on what little evidence there is. Sounds like a domestic dispute gone wrong and very unlikely to proceed very far. The best approach, the way i see it based on experience, for the prosecutor would be to try to get Mills to plead down to a misdemeanor or drop the case entirely.

ETA: but who knows what the DA will do. Does he want another circus like what happened with Jordan Jefferson? Do they plan on spending tax payer money and valuable resources better spent elsewhere, again, for a case like this?

Accordning to a recent national study, almost 20% of males between the ages of 18-23 get arrested for something. There are almost 100 kids on a college football team. If 2 or 3 get arrested each year...that is below the national average and not a sign of a program out of control.
Let the case play out...if he is guilty, he is off the team. It is pretty simple.

Absolutely! Its shameful how quickly some people pass judgment on something they really have no clue about. These threads are great for exposing the biggest douche bags among our fellow posters though.
How about letting this shake out a bit and waiting on some more information to surface before condemning the kid? Some of our fan base can be down right embarrassing at times.

Youth is wasted on the young. But, we do not know the facts of what happened. Further, is it he said/she said?
