A few stats that a well-informed young man like Jacoby should memorize:
There are about 48,000,000 black Americans
According to the Washington Post database, in 2019 there were 249 blacks killed by the police: 165 had guns, 33 had knives, and only 14 were unarmed.
By contrast, in 2018 (last year I could find), according to FBI statistics, there were 7,406 black homicides. Well over 90% of them were killed by other blacks.

I'd rather stay on topic and disagree with the appreciation in this thread. If you don't like the responses, get off the message board.

Jacoby is a smart guy and will want to know the facts.
Posted on 8/29/20 at 12:19 pm to LSU Patrick
The facts would have helped a lot of the virtue signalers reguarding:
Michael Brown - rushed the cop and tried to take his gun
Trayvon Martin - killed in self defense
Alton sterling - armed and reaching for his weapon
George Floyd - drug overdose
Breona Taylor - shot through a door after her boyfriend shot at police

Today Stevens is at a Church in BR doing things for victims of Laura.
Even if I don't agree with some of his stances, I cannot find any fault in the way he is expressing himself. If more people did this, we could move forward as a civil society. Unfortunately, there is one group that refuses to see this as anything but revenge against people they hate.

Brionna Taylor is the only one out of that group that should still be alive

Again, it wasn’t a douchebag bat signal. It was an appreciation thread. If you don’t appreciate him, start yet another thread where you clowns go round and round about the “issues”.

Douchebag bat signal? I think you call that a mirror.

And Rand Paul pushed legislation to help prevent what happened to her. Yet, the idiot BLM and antifa thugs in DC attacked him and his wife just the other night. But he is a white guy who supports Trump so the facts don’t matter in that case. Meanwhile, a rapist resisting arrest and assaulting cops while in possession of a weapon is a hero.

Cody Worsham's Hey Fightin' podcast did a great interview with Jacoby last year. He's a character. He talked about his interest in American history. Very earnest, a bit naïve,-kind of like you want your kid to be at that age. Pimp Jr is that way-always a smile, always eager to help, very optimistic, no cynicism.

You are correct, the narrative that the left wing media such as CNN/MSNBC/NYTIMEes have been putting out is that Blacks are being murdered by the Police is just not true. It makes you wonder why they have been pushing this narrative all summer while major cities riot and burn. As long as it was something that could hurt Trump, they said nothing, in fact they encouraged it.
This past week, Don Lemon finally said we need to stop the riots, looting and burning because you know why, not because it is wrong, because it is showing up in the poll numbers and hurting Biden. That is exactly what that POS said.
1) Here are the data for all arrest (Felony and misdemeanors) going back to 1990. In 2018, last year full data, 10.3 million arrests, the lowest number over the entire period, and given our population level, lowest overall crime rate since 1990. I don't know what it will look like in 2020 with all this rioting and looting but the crime numbers in Trump's first 2 years were the lowest on record, and we have more people
LINK
Here are the number of people killed by the police each year going back to 2013. As you can see it is relatively flat at about 1,000 a year.
LINK
But as you point out, there are very few instances were a police officer kills someone who is not armed. I mean out 2018 10.3 million police interactions with civilians, 1,000 shot, most of which were legal if the suspect had a weapon and did not comply. Now for the ones where someone was shot unarmed, those are the ones that need to be investigated.
If you want to look at police shootings relative to murder suspects, here are the homocide stats. Once again, in 2018 Trump's 2nd year, the murder rate had gone down significantly from Obama's last year in 2016.
LINK
So yes Police reform where needed good, sentencing reforms in laws that treat similar crimes differently and disproportionately impact Black communities , all for.
The narrative by Antifa and BLM and their woke secular White liberal financial backers and Media supporters attacking the Police verbally and physically, wanting to defund and abolish the police is a smokescreen being used for nothing but for the far left to obtain power.
So working to help improve economic, health care, educational opportunities for Black citizens in Louisiana, and all over, all for. It is in that context I support the notion Black Lives matter.
On the other hand, supporting the organization BLM, and its Antifa allies, no freaking way.

Michael Brown - rushed the cop and tried to take his gun
Yet the cop shot him at a DISTANCE. At the time he was shot, Brown was 15-20 away from the cop.
quote:
Trayvon Martin - killed in self defense
Yeah ok stupid, An UNARMED, black kid with a tea and a bag of skittles is a THREAT against an adult armed with a firearm.
quote:
Alto sterling - armed and reaching for his weapon
So a rogue cop arrives and put the gun to Sterlings head and threatened him. This is AFTER the first officer have the situation under control. Now mind you, the Second Cop that arrived had a history of police brutality against Black Males. And oh by the way, the Training Officer evaluation of this cop was that he would be a danger to the community and would one day kill someone. And guess what happenned?
quote:
George Floyd - drug overdose
So you totally IGNORE the Illegal tactic of the knee on the throat that CONTRIBUTED to the death. How convenient.
quote:
Breona Taylor - shot through a door after her boyfriend shot at police
So tell me what would you do if you were in your bed with your wife/girlfriend, and someone burst through your door UNANNOUNCED. Would you offer to sit down with them over a cup of tea? Or would you protect your wife/girlfriend and yourself? And by the way, the fricking cops RAIDED THE WRONG HOUSE.

You’re right, man. White cops are hunting down innocent black guys and killing them. You should flee the country immediately.

You have zero facts and are repeating media propaganda. I've linked the facts in my original post. I may edit this post to provide you with a TL;DR because I know you won't... Maybe you have info that these investigators/judges/winesses/juries/medical examiners don't have.
Michael Brown:
Breona Taylor:
The cops were at the right house. J Glover is the drug dealer they were after. Taylor bailed him out and he used her address as his home. He brought drugs to the trap house under surveillance in her vehicle with her inside multiple times. Kenneth is the other drug dealer she was with and holding both of their money.
Alton Sterling:
George Floyd:
The knee restraint IS LEGAL and is in the Minneapolis use-of-force policy.
Trayvon Martin:
Zimmerman went to follow Martin and lost him in the heavy rain, it is on his way back to his vehicle that Martin approached Zimmerman and proceeded to bang his head against the concrete.
Michael Brown:
quote:
However, as discussed later in this report, those witness accounts could not be relied upon in a
prosecution because credible witness accounts and physical and forensic evidence, i.e. Brown’s
DNA inside the SUV and on Wilson’s shirt collar and the bullet trajectory and close-range
gunshot wound to Brown’s hand, establish that Brown’s arms and/or torso were inside the SUV.
Breona Taylor:

He brought drugs to the trap house under surveillance in her vehicle with her inside multiple times. Kenneth is the other drug dealer she was with and holding both of their money.
Alton Sterling:
quote:
Given the totality of the circumstances – that the officers had been fighting with Sterling and had attempted less-than-lethal methods of control; that they knew Sterling had a weapon; that Sterling had reportedly brandished a gun at another person; and that Sterling was much larger and stronger than either officer – the Department cannot prove either that the shots were unconstitutional or that they were willful. Moreover, two different, independent experts opined that this shooting was not unreasonable given the circumstances.
George Floyd:
The knee restraint IS LEGAL and is in the Minneapolis use-of-force policy.
quote:
In one memorandum filed May 26 after a virtual meeting with Baker, the Attorney’s Office said Baker concluded, “The autopsy revealed no physical evidence suggesting that Mr. Floyd died of asphyxiation.” Baker told the attorney his investigation was incomplete pending a toxicology report, however.
The other memorandum filed June 1 by the Attorney’s Office indicated Baker said Floyd’s level of fentanyl was “pretty high,” and a potentially “fatal level.”
"[Dr. Andrew Baker] said that if Mr. Floyd had been found dead in his home (or anywhere else) and there were no other contributing factors he would conclude that it was an overdose death,” the June 1 memo said.
Trayvon Martin:
quote:
After three weeks of testimony, the six-woman jury rejected the prosecution’s contention that Mr. Zimmerman had deliberately pursued Mr. Martin because he assumed the hoodie-clad teenager was a criminal and instigated the fight that led to his death.
Zimmerman went to follow Martin and lost him in the heavy rain, it is on his way back to his vehicle that Martin approached Zimmerman and proceeded to bang his head against the concrete.

.00000002 percent of black people were killed by cops last year. Considering the cast of characters there are in this country, I'd say if we kept it at that rate, we are doing pretty freaking good. There has to be some INTELLECTUAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT that human beings are inherently flawed and mistake-prone, and even when officers are trained perfectly, there will still be mishaps/tragedies/etc.
If we are going to have a highly choreographed racial passion play in the streets, burn down neighborhoods, loot stores, run businesses out, maim and kill completely innocent people every time a black criminal is killed by a white officer, we might as well turn out the lights on every principle of Western Civilization. It's emotional and intellectual infantilism .

Jacoby Stevens is a believer and has a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Remember out of the mouth the heart speaks. He is an example of a kid that is smart enough to make his own decisions and go about it in a classy and mature way. He has no hate or an agenda like a Ryan Clark.
Posted on 8/29/20 at 12:53 pm to AaronDeTiger
What does that have to do with the way Jacoby handles himself?
Posted on 8/29/20 at 12:56 pm to Lsupimp
I am glad they protesyed peacefully bc it's their right. I don't have to agree with everything but hope some of the guys gravitate to Jacoby his actions speak louder than his words. It all comes down to being educated and being respectful and listening to both parties
