I hate to say it, but I am also unable to believe (based on his past history with JJ/JL/even Mett) that CLM has the slightest intention of changing QBs at LSU. And it is very hard for me to see CLM changing his offense to suit the skill set that AJ does bring to the table. He was not a highly ranked QB in HS for nothing. Same with BH.

But I don't think CLM has the slightest idea of how to eval, improve, or properly utilize his QBs, except as jumping off places for his precious (if limited) run game. He has one model in mind and that only.

I agree totally. I look at the talent on this team and the way the schedule falls next year and think this should be an 11-1 team with an high probability of winning the SEC and making it to LSU's first playoff appearance. But I feel like the coaching staff will only coach good enough to struggle to get this team to 9 wins. It's frustrating because the talent is there for national title run almost every year and IMO Harris has the talent to lead us to 11 wins next year.

I listened to an interesting interview with Steve Young yesterday. He, of course, began his career as a running quarterback. He said that young guys can run around and make plays but he said too many college QBs aren't at all prepared for anything beyond that. He said that standing in the pocket and learning to read defenses and make proper reads is what he called "the master's program."

you mean comb through the rosters and statistics for 12 games for each of 128 FBS teams to see which freshman played at QB?

That's what I did just about 10 posts above. There were six frosh QBs (true or redshirt) that led their team in attempts this year or played at least 40 percent of snaps. SIX, and three of them were garbage.

Our offense made what should have been the game-winning drive

I was trying to remember who I had debated this to no end after that game. Offense did no such thing in that game. Defense gave them the ball at the 6 and the O moved backwards. Offense also gave Bama the ball on our side of the field before half leading to another 3 points. If the Offense did it's job, we would have won by 10. But that's here nor there and I don't expect you to see reason after pages of back and forth in the other thread

If Jennings opens up 2015 and continues to perform at his worst QB ever at LSU level, I doubt many on here will be giving us the all is well speeches.

there won't be many, but they'll be vocal.

The starter has been chosen. It's never based on level of play at LSU.

Wasn't when Jefferswag was on campus

So Lee was better? They were both crap.

Lee was far from crap his last year, last time i checked he was 7-0 or 8-0 to start the year, and had a pretty good QBR rating during that spell, pretty sure it was the dumbest coaching move of all time to put Jefferson in as the starter to finish the year and lose that embarrassing NT game

The point is that freshman do indeed play QB, even in the best conference.

But since you want to quibble, here are their QB ratings:

Treon Harris. QBR 142.4
Johnny McCrary QBR. 114.8
Kyle Allen QBR. 133.7

Except for McCrary's rating (he plays for one of the worst teams in the country), these numbers aren't bad at all.

Jennings QBR is 115.3

Heard a stat a while back stating that no SEC QB sophmore, redshirt or no, has won an SEC championship since David Greene at Georgia did it in 2002. Since then it has strictly been Jr's or older. This doesn't it can't be done, just that it is very unusual.

Very few QBs, period, win the SEC. That's an unfair threshold for success.

I seem to recall that redshirt freshman QBs won the last two Heismans. Wow, no prior experience yet they managed to produce. Who'd have thunk it?

Exactly.. Talent, even with lack of playing, can have success in college.. even in the SEC.

Harris outperformed Jennings except for one freaking first start.

Let's look at this..

JT Barrett had 3 INTS vs Virgina Tech at home and they lost that game..

He had ONE BAD GAME.. as a freshman with not much experience at all! and rushed to the fire.. but he bounced back and his true talent showed and he became a heisman candidate. Spare me the weak conference talk.. the point is he played poorly and his team lost an embarrassing game, but he was allowed more time to redeem himself and let his talent show through..

Harris has shown the talent in every game except for the horrible first start ON the road..

Miles is simply hard headed, and it's nothing more or less.

Dilfer was on Cowherd yesterday and said a lot of the same things. He also said the meerkat offense that a lot of teams run hurts the development of the players. Said they target their primary WR 85-90% of the time and don't understand pre-snap reads. The coaches take the responsibility a way from the players and they don't learn or have to figure things out from their play.
