Just bring on the AI umps and compare the real umps to the AI ump after each game. If the umps aren’t correct a certain percent of the time they get fired.
Pretty much like every other job in the world.
That should be enough to make them get their shite together.

The NCAA umpires union got espn to remove the strike zone after a few games in Omaha one season. Then it never came back.
Why is the NCAA humoring a union for part time employees

And line judges who actually watch every swing, instead of just guessing.

No umpires would take away some excitement from the game.
Baseball is a contest between two teams that culminates into a victor. There is no room for a third player that is beyond scrutiny. Humans aren't perfect, but history proves they can be corrupted.

Maybe they could phase it in, where coaches get a certain amount of calls reviewed quickly. But after I think about it, that probably would probably go over like a shite sandwich too.
Just spit balling because I agree on both accounts.
I agree part of the love hate relationship with the umpire is a lot of the fun or experience of the game, always has been.
Then I also agree it’s time to evolve the game and use some of the technology available so the players who work their fukin asses off don’t get screwed by bad calls.

These umpires are just not very good at their job. I don’t know if more training is needed or what but it’s bad across the SEC. Don’t understand baseball purist wanting no electronic zone or help. Not having the zone on TV because the umpires complained about it is pathetic

Sounds like we just need better umpires.
Sounds like you are a broken record. And a dinosaur.

Rather than electronic strike zones during the game, they need to implement a graded pay for performance scale that is established by the electronic strike zone.

Because the NCAA, and every other sports league, want the worst umpires calling the most important games so that teams get screwed over.
