I don't remember (I didn't book our rooms). We are downtown, though and it might even be the W. I am counting the days down. We're going up Thursday and coming back on Sunday.

Yeah, we get in Thursday around 1pm Seattle time and leave Sunday morning ... there are tons of LSU people staying at The W and The Westin downtown.

Take lots of pictures in Seattle guys, and be sure to post them. I want to see just how many Tiger fans make the trip, and if we're represented well.

The Seattle area alumni are reactivating their dormant chapter (like the reawakening of Mt. St. Helens) and are planning a big tailgate party. You can find them on Facebook... the Portland alumni have a Yahoo group at LINK and I'll pass along anything I find out via the Yahoo group. I'll try to remember to post something on the Tiger Rant as well once the plans are more solid.
My job is done for now... tickets, check... band, check... hotel room, check... now it's all about the tailgating. If I was just in it to see the game, I'd stay home and watch it on the big screen. The whole point of being there is to drink, eat and be social. The game is just a catalyst and you only hope you remember half of it... which is why you TAPE the game! :)

wow, that's a great deal. I thought we got the W dirt cheap at $139 a night directly through their website when they had that sale a couple weeks ago, but 125 for the W is awesome!

Now that the band is traveling to Washington, a suggestion for the future:
Add a $5 dollar surcharge to ALL away game tickets--call it the "band" surcharge if you like.
Those who are shelling out the bucks to go to an away game should be willing to pay a measly $5 dollars in order to get the FULL gameday experience. Even going to Tuscaloosa or Oxford is a $500 dollar trip--how could $5 bucks make a difference? Going to Washington is a $1000+ outlay--$5 additional bucks would NOT be a make or break decision.
To those commentators for whom the band is an unimportant part of the gameday experience, and for those who thought that budgetary considerations should be weighed as more important than the total gameday experience I can only shake my head and wonder, why do you bother attending games at all?

I support a band fee. As long as we get some financial transparency, to make sure that's REALLY where the money is headed.

Completely agree. If you don't appreciate the band, then there really is NO POINT in attending LSU games. Stay home and watch the game on ESPN or drink Natty Light in the parking lot with Bubba and the boys.
I am willing to put my money where my mouth is and I am happy to financially support the band. They'll be getting a donation from me later this year after I finish paying for all the football tickets I just bought.
Conservatives like myself should make it clear that we are not opposed to all fees and all taxes, just those that return little value or are patently unfair. I don't mind taxing smokers to fund health care service *for* smokers, but why should smokers pay for health care for children (who don't smoke!) The best tax out there is the gas tax.. you pay based on how much gas you burn and the money goes straight towards something tangible, road maintenance.
So, yes, I support a band fee that is transparent and goes towards fully funding the band.
I was serious when I said Huey Long would be spinning in his grave if he knew the band wouldn't be traveling to ANY LSU game, no matter how far from home.
The only thing James Carville, Huey Long and I would have ever agreed on is that we all deeply love and are extremely passionate about LSU. Let's hope that the athletic department heard that loud and clear.
I was a fan of LSU and the band when I was a student staying to the bitter end of blowouts during the Great Depression that was the Curley Hallman era and I will bleed purple and gold until I breathe my last breath. Might just have to play the alma mater at my funeral.

One victory at a time, lol. Hopefully within the next month they can find a cost feasible way to take the full band to Oxford like was originally planned. I'm optimistic. I truly hope they can, but atthe very least now we'll at least have a band at every game this year.
If nothing else, I think this whole "campaign" educated Alleva on the fan's passion for the LSU band at least relative to the band's involvement in football season. Hopefully in the future when cuts are necessary they'll cut something that less people care about and hence they'll be able to fly a little more under the radar with their cuts.

This is GREAT !!! I feel most believe LSU football would not be complete without "The Golden Band from Tiger Land".

3rd year member this year, hopefully will get a chance to represent our State at this game, if not i know the members selected will do their job and show their appreciation for all of the fans hard work. Thanks to all who have helped, GEAUX TIGERS!

i remember seeing this thread and thinking why even bother, LSU won't listen. Props to Herb/Alleva whoever else made this happen. I think the fact fans were willing to pitch in showed the how much it meant to us. To all the haters
