I was always under the impression that when a wind direction is described they are referring to the direction that the wind is blowing toward. However, when a trade wind is referenced, it is the opposite. Like the easterly trade winds blow from the East and towards the West.

i thought all wind reports referenced the direction the wind is coming "from" ?
