Tim Floyd FTW. He got screwed over by the administration at USC, but he is a great coach and has deep roots in LA/MS. He would be perfect for LSU (if he's available).

A real all around small forward position was the key to the teams success.Matt D. ,knew he couldn't make it better and subsequently the team better so he bailed, sissy.

Conference records (W-L) for two other coaches who were clearly the wrong men for the job after three years.
Calhoun, Jim - Connecticut
1986–1987 (3–13)
1987–1988 (4–12)
1988–1989 (6–10)
. . .
2010-2011 NCAA Champion
2003-2004 NCAA Champion
1998-1999 NCAA Champion
LINK
Krzyzewski, Mike - Duke
1980–1981 (6–8)
1981–1982 (4–10)
1982–1983 (3–11)
. . .
2009-2010 NCAA Champion
2000-2001 NCAA Champion
1991-1992 NCAA Champion
1990-1991 NCAA Champion

I try not to overreact on these things, but losing Gathers is a big one. I don't think we were every really going to go that hard to sign Felix since we just signed Hickey.
My thoughts FWIW. This year should be a whole new team with JOB and Hamilton down low, an actual point guard in Hickey with Turner, Stringer and Issac shooting the ball outside. If we win, we can still get some good recruits this offseason and in the future, but this season has to be a real success for me to support Trent any further. I'm willing to give him this year, but if he is only .500 halfway through SEC play, I'll be the first one asking that he be fired.

I used this argument too, but after this off season I don't exactly think he is the resurrection of Coach K.
I'll still be courtside at every game... I just don't think Johnson is going to save us.
We are going to have a decent season this year 8-8. But it won't get better after that and unfortunately it won't get TJ fired

IMO, Trent has really bad assistants...apparently they can't close on any recruits, they're not exactly keeping the players we do have happy, and it doesn't look like they've done anything at all to help Trent out.
That being said, it's still Trent's own damn fault for not canning them and getting some better assitants. He should have kept Butch.
I'm giving him this year, and am willing to give him next year too...but if we're 1-7 at the midway point of the conference season, I'll personally pack his bags for him.

so johnson was supposed to follow this little endless summer, party boy around 24/7 and tuck him into bed at night ? give me a fricking break ... johnson won the SEC with a team that john brady lost his job with a year earlier ..

How many elite players in Louisiana outside of the BR area have we gotten under Butch?
I can only think of 1.

No doubt that he's having problems recruiting. I don't think he can recruit worth a damn. He won with the players that Brady had here. He did this more so then Miles w/ Saban arguement.

all trent has to do is start paying collis temple his "finder's fee" like brady did and the talent will start rolling in ..

I have defended TJ more adamantly than nearly anyone else. The light that was at the end of the tunnel is dimming.
In one off season he lost guys on the team, lost out on JUCO signees and he lost on the in-state recruits he has spent the majority of his time on.
He apparently recruits South Mississippi well but that alone will not salvage our program.

TJ knows he has to win this season moving forward .. and he will ..

ive seen no evidence to support this claim although it would be nice.

TJ shows no signs of being effected by his terrible seasons. Right now he probably thinks he can win 4 SEC games and keep his job.

I would agree that Calhoun and coack K turned out to be hall of fame coaches but for every Calhoun and coach K you name I am sure you could also name dozens of guys who also started like that and ended up failing badly as well.
Not to mention though the Big East was not the monster it is now then but it was easily much better than the SEC was last year few years. That was the time of Georgetown, Villanova, Pitt had some really good teams with Jerome Lane,Seton Hall and St John. The ACC was well the ACC UNC, NC State won a National championship in that time frame and Virginia went to a Final Four with Ralph Sampson. Much better teams playing Coach K in the early 80's in the ACC tand Calhoun played in the late 80's in the Big East than what Trent has faced in the last two years and hasnt been able to do better than 5 SEC wins!

the whole fricking problem is collis temple's butt hurt arse being pissed that trent told him "no" when he put his hand out ... that's why dale brown was trying to mediate the relationship between the two ..

FWIW I have heard him say that he is not used to this type of losing.

For what reason to point out the difference between Trent and his sucessor?
