It's 2020, can we see a 2 quarterback system installed?

I hate the idea of switching quarterbacks every quarter like some programs have done in the past but nothing would surprise me.

2 QB systems only work if one guy is a runner and offers a change of pace in that regard.

I have never seen a true 2 QB system where they were both good.

Closest thing I can think of is some of Spurrier’s Florida teams like around the time of Rex Grossman and them, but even those teams were best when one guy took over.

I bet these sounded like a great thread to start in your head.

That was also back in the day when their WR3 or WR4 would light you up for 8 catches 160 yards and 3 TD’s. Those days of Spurrier offenses are long gone.

Definitely long gone. And I wasn’t disagree with ole baw. Just pointing out it’s the closest thing I can think of. I agree with his post that it can only work if the QBs are different styles(and even then I don’t love it) unless it’s one guy just coming in for like 10 percent of plays like Tebow and Leak or RP and Flynn in 07

I remember UGA did it with DJ Shockley and someone else and they probably lost because of it. May have been against Florida.

No! Would y’all stop!!

There’s an old saying you young kids may not have heard: if you have a 2 qb system, you don’t have 1 qb. There’s 1 about on a team and several backups.

We at least need to be looking at Finley for plays inside the 5

Leak and Tebow.

That’s an example of a change of pace. Tebow was more of a runner than Leak. He had 89 carries to 33 passes as a freshmen. He had this specialty red zone packages. Outside Western Carolina and Central Florida Depo never had more than 3 passes in a game.

Alternatively Leake has 77 rushing attempts and 30 yards....

Right that wasn’t a true 2 QB system, almost more of a wild cat package.

I will give you another example that hits closer to home, Bert Jones and Paul Lyons. As ridiculous as it seemed to have Bert Jones on the bench for a substantial part of the time (and it was ridiculous) I remember one huge instance in which it worked. We would have lost to Tulane in 1972 were it not for the spark that Paul Lyons gave us.
