Or is this more of a defensive strategy having Milazzo back there? Now granted Milazzo did hit well last night just curious.

Travenski did a poor job of framing pitches and I think that factored into Milazzo getting the start. The umpire was not consistent at all rather than consistently bad. He had a lot of really late strike calls which tells me he wasn't very confident in making borderline strike or ball calls. And if our catcher is stabbing at the ball and not framing it, it really really hurts the pitcher when it seemed the umpire was factoring the catchers mit when making the call.

Yep plus if he was healthy he would have got to PH against the lefty late. Definitely dinged up.

Yes, I agree...thought Millazo is probably our best catcher hands down, he is what we used to say back in the day in the backyard, an "easy out".

Same thing during midweek games. Milazzo would get a bloop single off midweek pitching and here would come the “does Milazzo need more at bats?” Threads
