Yeah laughing at your stupidity will never get old.

Good job, how’d you know he’d be the 1st pick of the 2nd rd?
Dude, just admit you were wrong. Even if he had gone one or two picks earlier you still would have been wrong. The folks who said he'd be a first rounder would be right, but not the folks who ridiculed the guys who thought he'd slip out of round one. Even if he had been picked with one of the last two or three picks in round one it would have proved your ridicule unfounded. Take the L.

Can we agree that Tommy dropped out of the 1st round because any team that would take him knew he "had" to take whatever spot he was taken at?
If he is to stay for a senior year, he will definitely be taken at a later round next year because he is in his last year and would have ZERO leverage to go in the early rounds. The team will take him knowing if he wants to play ball past college, they can get him a cheaper rate than a high school-draft eligible sophomore.
Just the way MLB draft is different from other sports. Sucks kind of. The draft is not always about the best player going first. It is about leverage.

No. There are countless other college juniors, in the exact same spot, taken in the first round. That is not it, at all.

So, tell me why he slipped from a projected 27 to 40. HMMM, maybe had everything to do with getting him at a lower price.

I have, and will never, do something that moronic. So you will always have me beat

the whole point of leverage as a JR is you don’t HAVE to take your spot.
teams and players are basically in the same boat Neither wins if the JR doesn’t sign so they have to come to an agreement.
Sr get told to kick rocks.

Penny, had he went pick 39, zero chance I resurrect this thread. Like I said, good job. Strong call by poster

things work differently once you get into the first round. For instance, Mark Appel was drafted 8th overall in 2012, didn't sign, and was drafted #1 overall the following year and signed a $6.35 million deal. Teams don't pass over 1st round college talent because of signing leverage.
College seniors, in other rounds, actually typically go higher so they can save the slot value for picks in later rounds. See Gavin Dugas getting drafted in the 6th round last year and getting a $20k signing bonus when his slot was for ~$380k

I’m not trying to get in the middle of something, but wouldn’t the first round be 1-30? The compensatory picks are stacked on that the number depends on circumstances.

Well, the A's owner is a super cheap SOB which is why the A's have been in the shitter for years, their payroll is microscopic. Should never have been allowed to buy the team.
