How do we know JJ would be as successful as Dale? With the lack of talent in LA right now I don't even think John Wooden could win at LSU
This argument has to be laid to rest. If there are not enough prospects in Louisiana then the coach needs to be able to go find them elsewhere. Australia might be a good place to look.

With Dale past his prime and in poor health, perhaps through JJ, his legacy could be restored its original luster?

As much as I prefer seeing the homegrown talent wearing and winning in the purple and gold, there was a certain charm in having Eddie Palubinskus and that other rather large chap (Andy Campbell?) on the roster.
Dale did some pretty crazy chit when it came to signing guys from far away. Remember Jose Vargas? Kenny Higgs and Hondo Hansen were also coups.

Yes, he did bring guys from far and away places. Remember Jones was his assistant for 17 of his last years.

John Brady before being dismissed right after Final Four appearance:
2006–2007 LSU 17–15 5–11 6th (West)
2007–2008 LSU 8–13 1–6 6th (West)
Trent Johnson now:
2009–2010 LSU 11–20 2–14 6th west
2010-2011 LSU 7-5
Better start getting some wins against good programs.

Injuries, just like questionable officiating, are all part of the game. Excuses are the nails that build the house of failure.
