Tharold Simon was ok but he struggled vs top tier WRs( see Deandre Hopkins in bowl game) That’s why he’s out of the league now. Devin White is definitely better than Minter.

Sure, I said Tharold contributed to his team and made the active roster of 2 different teams. He played in the Super Bowl for the Seahawks, and I mean he saw playing time

I’d agree White is better than Minter. But the strength of the D line on 2011 is something this team can’t match

Just littered with future pro players. TM7, Claiborne, Mingo, Reid, Minter, Brockers, Tharold Simon, Bennie Logan were all pros

This D is LOADED with NFL talent too. If you see in my OP, I know we have no HB, but Aranda sure is a helluva lot better that Chavis. I think Aranda will have them in position to make a crap load of plays this year.

Ok, well that year Claiborne won the Thorpe award, was SEC co-defensive player of the year with Mathieu, and was a unanimous first team all-American.

So those are the baseline expectations for williams this year.

Yep. Greedy is damn good, but no one should forget just how great Mo was.

That 2011 secondary was just insanely good.

Are you going to address the comparisons of the entire secondaries and not just 1 player from each or not?

You don’t think Greedy will be an All American corner?

The team going 13-0 had a lot to do with those accolades also.

It’s much harder to garner all American status on a 8-4 team as opposed to a 13-0 team.

I know you weren’t asking me. But I commented on this earlier.

2011 has 2 consensus AA corners, an AA safety in Reid, Brandon Taylor and Ron Brooks.

I’m not sure anyone on the 2018 would start over any of those guys. Including Greedy. He might have been the thirds CB in replacement of Brooks but it’s closer than people think. And I love Greedy

No safety on this team would see the field ahead of Reid and Taylor.

That 2011 secondary may be on of the best ever in all of CFB

Nobody. But I believe Ed Paris can have a huge impact similar Dwayne Thomas in his Sr. Year.

I'd add defensive coordinator advantage to 2018 as well

Brockers was a legit force

Lawrence will be great but that's a pretty bold statement

TM7 might have had the greatest single season for a defensive player in the history of CFB and throw in 1st rdrs Claiborne and Reid. Seconday this year is good, but not close to 2011 good. Greedy looks the part as does Delpit. The other safeties and corners have talent but not proven like 2011.

Two returning All americans, Adams and Montgomery, Brockers, Mo Claiborne, Reid and Honey Badger, who would go on to be a Heisman finalist?

This defense is probably not that.

That's not what I asked or said. YOU said he is better than Claiborne. Just being an all-American cb doesn't put him in the same league as Claiborne.

Will he win the the Thorpe award?

Will he be a UNANIMOUS first team all-American?

Will he be at least co-defensive player of the year in the sec?

Because if he's not ALL of those, you won't have much to stand on with your assertion that he's better than Claiborne.

Exactly which one of those accolades is a team award?

Some of last year's UNANIMOUS all-Americans were from schools like Texas, Iowa, NC st, and Stanford. Other all-Americans from San Diego st, Colorado st, Houston, Memphis, Washington st, northern Illinois. None of those teams were 13-0 or anything close to it.

Let me know when you want to bring some actual facts into this.

Completely agree with your earlier comment about Taylor being criminally underrated. He was better that year than Reid was.

Remember that Simon usually played the traditional #2 cb spot. Williams would start ahead of him. But the defense lined up in Nickel the majority of the season with Mathieu in that spot, Brooks in the dime position when they played that alignment.

No safety on this team would see the field ahead of Reid and Taylor.

Not even close. Deploy MAY have been first off the bench. Battle would be laughed off the field at practice.

2001 Miami is the only one with a good argument in recent memory.

The closest thing we have to Brockers is Edwin Alexander in terms of impact and Dare Rosenthal in terms of stature.

The starting line has to be Lawrence, Alexander, Logan if it’s going to be elite
