I mean, so did Saban, but change that to once. Les Miles has done an outstanding job, but I don't think he has the same success if he replaces Dinardo. Just my opinion. Saban made LSU a national brand to the recruits of that era. He inherited an Oldsmobile while Miles inherited a caddilac from a perception standpoint.

Also a 13 person recruiting class because Saban didn't work on recruiting his last year. The players Saban left Miles with were a mixed blessing.

It's dumb as frick, and anyone who seriously holds that opinion is not worth consideration.

I guess it depends on the definition of "won of significance". If we are talking about national championships, then they are right. If an SEC championship is considered significant, there was 2011. If we assume that the last year that "Saban's players" were on the team was 2008, only one other team in the SEC outside of Alabama has won anything significant -- Auburn.

I feel sorry for Miles in a way in that his career is being overshadowed by arguably the greatest college in the history of college football in Nick Saban. How many more SEC or national championships would Miles would have won if Alabama had not been so dominant?

It is 2016 and only 5 schools in the SEC have won an SEC title this millennium. LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Alabama. So most schools have not won anything of significance...period.

True, but with the players he inherited, he had 3 top 5 finishes, 1 sec and one nc in 3 years. Once those players were gone...1 top 5 finish, 1 sec and 0 nc in 8 years. He's 24x more likely to finish top 5 with Saban's players.

couldn't we say that about a lot of coaches though?

I mean Saban's formula is simple, be the best dang recruiter of them all, and essentially win games before they are played..coach up the defense, run the ball, mix in pass, don't beat yourself

the question is, who wins most of the games with same talent level and depth? on a neutral sight against Saban coached teams?

I am convinced Alabama gets ranked #1 this year despite not having a QB named and losing several key starters is because of the #1 recruiting and the "Saban" factor.

Let's be honest, he is most people's #1 ranked coach in CFB...and this comes from consistent performance. He wins big...4 MNC in 8 seasons? Yep that will put you at the top.

It's sucks Miles has to be compared to him, but it's the reality of him restoring LSU's program and then leaving us...

Why these stupid threads right now? News flash! Saban are both outstanding coaches and have both served LSU well. We as fans should be grateful to both of them. Just for a couple of weeks in light of the crap many have had to deal with, can we have a moratorium on divisive posts?

2007 was mostly Saban players. That's a fact.

These comparisons need to stop. People need to quit bringing it up and quit acknowledging it when other dummies bring it up. Saban has been gone over a decade and people still say this?
A lot of this falls on LSU fans for giving it a second thought. It's stupid and we need to let it go.

Harder to do than with your own players. When was the last time Saban won anything with someone else's players? What a stupid argument.

2001?
2008?

What constitutes "Saban" players and "Miles" players? Is it merely a result of who recruited them? Because that's a pretty stupid metric.

Is this a True or False statement regarding Les Miles and Saban's players by Street Hawk

Saban at Bama won two division titles and national title at Bama with players from the previous coach and his 2nd national title had a few red shirts so that could taint his record at BAMA.

Really stupid to make this statement about Saban or Miles.

That is false, However, Miles has had as much or more talent then anyone. Including the gumps. Because of that Miles has under produced no doubt.

Mark my words, he will have some excuse this year also.

So by that logic Saban won at bama with Shula's players ( I believe) and Urban won at Fla. with Zook's? And from the LSU perspective, Saban won with DiNardo's players? This argument is so old it's ridiculous.

False, and not really even worth discussing at this point. In 2011, Miles was in his 7th season, won the SEC title and went to the NC game. That was obviously something of significance and equally obviously all his own players.
