Jesus Christ man just answer the question.

If Stanfield wasn’t on the roster and Connor Simon took his place, who is starting in the outfield and who is the first guy off the bench. Do you not understand what second order effects are?

Okay well they hadn’t put themselves in that position until his home run in the 8th. Do players’ post LSU career now matter to you?

Probably Pearson

I had Larson penciled in at DH to start the year. Sluggish in the OF

Is Larson a better hitter than Stanny? I believe he is but I also don’t think either is necessarily a star in the making

So it’s Curiel, Pearson, and Brown. With Pearson starting in CF over Brown despite Pearson never playing CF at LSU and Brown playing 18 games there last year.

So, worst case scenario, Larson is the 4th outfielder. The 4th outfielder at LSU gets a ton of at bats and usually 30+ starts. LSU has had 5 outfielders approach 50 games the last two years.

So, if Stanfield wasn’t here, Larson is getting a shite ton more at bats and is worst case platooning and getting 6+ at bats per weekend.

Cade Beloso and Brayden Jobert have no post LSU baseball future. They both made big time plays in big time games. LSU doesn’t win a CWS without those plays.

burreaux when you don’t give Paul Credit for a player he never coached:

quote:

Oh I didn’t realize Beloso, Jaubert and them weren’t players Pawl n Cain recruited.

burreaux when you point out that Johnson helped develop that player:

quote:

He was the perfect Jay player. Batted 5th or 6th and hit HRs or struck out

Which of course is not just contradictory, but fricking wrong. Jobert .301/.409/.596 in 2023

Even went as far as to call him a replaceable piece.

Man, I’m somehow starting to be more impressed by what Jay did in ‘23. He took a rag tag group of guys plus a couple of guys who were only here for one or two years (this matters because reasons) all the way to a national title.

What a beast.

Don’t forget: Beloso “shined”as a freshmen in 2019 hitting .279/.339/.429 but Milam was nothing special hitting .329/.425/.516 last year.

If only Beloso stayed fat he would have stayed a star

I'm waiting for him to tie Jay's coaching adjustments to Beloso's injury.

"If Jay didn't take away his leg kick, he would have been more used to picking that leg up and putting it down. Getting rid of the leg kick cost him muscle in the knee. Meddlin' Jockey Jay cost Beloso the '22 season"

Also - Be careful. A poster might call you a lib because you think Jay Johnson is a good coach and Chris Stanfield is a good player.

Just post laughing emojis and "false" and you can keep your republican card.

Then why didn’t Jay do a better job in the portal?

When? In his first year? He joined LSU kind of late due to the fact his team was in Omaha for a second time in 4 seasons.

quote:

Very fortunate that NIL became a thing early in his time and LSU had donors lined up ready to legally cut checks

Cool, but he was a runner on 3rd from tying the National Championship game at Arizona. Was he receiving the benefit of money there?

I don't understand how you are even a fan with such hatred towards a winning coach. LSU is currently 3rd in the SEC and you look forward to trashing him as soon the next loss.

You refuse to give him any credit for 23, but I actually think what he did in 2022 was equally impressive. He took over a team without a typical SEC caliber starter and still won 17 SEC games. 40 wins and even finished 3rd in the SEC year 1. They were 13-17 in the SEC the previous year and that team had a bonified Friday night starter in Marceaux.

He goes on a mission in year 2 and wins a title and you refuse to give him any credit whatsoever. You are a prick and a joke of a poster around here.

Many didn't think LSU could win a series against that Florida team without Skenes and yet he did. They didn't think LSU had any pitching behind him. Cooper Riley who he brought over from Arizona should have been the CWS MVP. No matter what you think he inherited LSU doesn't win a Championship without all the players Jay brought in and also the player development Jay brought to that team. Jay deserves credit for bringing in Wes Johnson and elevating Skenes into the greatest pitcher on the planet. The decision to have him exclusively only focus on pitching was smart.

LSU does not win a Championship in year 2 with Schloss. LSU wins a Championship and you try to discredit the coach for it all the time. You're pathetic. It's as if it never even happened with you. It's funny how your new favorite coach is now Schloss, but he's older and still hasn't won a championship. And you want to talk money now while Schloss has coached at the two richest schools in the SEC. A&M paid an insane amount of money for Montgomery, but hey let's not say Schloss is "lucky" they had money to spend when he had great players. Only Jay is lucky. Only discredit Jay when he has great players.

Seriously, you are trash.

Then LSU doesn’t win a college World Series without Mark Wanaka positioning Josh Pearson to be able to make that play on the Langford rope.

Must means Wanaka deserves a big raise and probably even an SEC HC job somewhere.

Maybe Jaubert would’ve been better under Paul, you don’t know

I’d argue he was what he was — a Delgado tranny. Not a key piece, not a big time talent

He was the first of many Jay-style players though for sure. A career .270 hitter at LSU with a 4.5 to 1 K to HR ratio and liability in the field. Jay loves those guys

Google is your friend.

Exit velos have gotten so high again that you can almost guarantee something will be done about it soon.

are they using the same balls as last couple years? if not you have no clue. bottom line is once jay got here, we had a huge jump across the board. Both as a team and players on a year to year comparison.

exit velo is up mainly because like most things

1) we now understand the importance for both power and average

2) its easily tracked, because it can be tracked it can be improved

3) we understand the importance of certain lifts correlating with more bat speed and EV and can measure those lifts better than ever before through tech. So they train those lifts and improve them

4) we have the tech to see pitchers more than ever through video, gaming consoles, projection, better pitching machines etc. We scout more and have mroe analytics than ever on tendencies.
