Is the qb situation at LSU finally heading in the right direction?

Two recent transfers and not a lot of noise from the rant calling for the #2.
The qb spot has been a mess as you all know since Ryan Perrilloux was kicked off the team. This is the first season since Mett that there hasn't been huge concern at the position. That being said the team seems to be building solid depth behind Joe Burrow. We commin!

Both were clipboard QBs with zero chance to get playing time.

LSU has a QB that proved to be remotely competent, which is rare in recent years. I think everyone is still a little concerned about Brennan because he's a twig and hasn't made much of an impact when he has gotten playing time.

The QB situation is good for this year. However there is still no one on staff that has proven they can develop a QB, so keep that in mind.

we are heading in the right direction..
and IMHO the transfers happened because they saw themselves outclassed and were not willing to wait....a good sign of what's there

I agree however now that the team has JB it buys extra time for MB to add a bit more weight and experience as well as more experience for Parrish.

I can't argue this but in all fairness LSU hasn't had much to work with, obviously their fault. No qb wants to go to "hand-offer U"

I get that, but at the same time it isn't like LSU has had a problem getting high rated QB's to commit. 4* QB's in almost every class. The bigger problems have been lack of development and poor fit. I want to say the development part will change because Les left, but his TE coach is now the QB coach. All we as fans can hope for is that the coaches do a better job of recruiting QB's that fit the offensive system. They need to stop trying to shove a square peg in a round hole.

Mett, Etling, Burrow. All quality QBs.

I would say inconsistent and myopic rather than a mess. It looks like we're finally starting to re-create a system of developing quality upperclass QBs rather than having to desperately toss inexperienced young QBs to the wolves.

Etling couldn't throw a pass longer than like 30 yards

It remains to be seen if it’s chaged all the way but we have a solid one now in Burrow so it’s a start. The telling will be how Myles and then whoever wins the battle out of Max Johnson, Peter Parrish and TJ Finley will be in 2020 and beyond.

I agree with this and mentioned Mett as well as saying this year not concerned with JB.
Etling nice young man but QB I know the Pats drafted him, camp meat

This argument is tired AF. Etling was a smart, gritty QB who played within his particular skillset. Being that he's still with the NFL Patriots organization speaks volumes.

Of course, to the average Rantard, you either played like a superstar or you were a total bust.

etling is the quarterback for the New England Patriots practice squad. Pretty sure he can throw the ball 30 yards

I agree. That’s what irked me the most with Les, though I liked him.
He kept bringing in “dual threats” when what was needed in a power I offense was a pocket passer, IMHO.

I agree it's tired AF. However somehow you throw the kids name in the lot. Yes he played smart and with grit but it was obvious LSU had nowhere else to turn. Dudes skillset was very thin. All the more reason to keep focused on the current players and the direction the team is now heading.

Well this season will get to see how this staff is at developing quarterbacks with how Burrow progresses from last season to this season. So far they are looking like they are doing a lot better job of managing the quarterback position then we have been so in the past

It's not that they were dual-threat or pocket passers it's that they just weren't very good quarterbacks. Nothing to do with square holes

Absolutely this! Getting Burrow was gold hopefully the qb's down the depth chart can take advantage of the time they have and work on improving.
