Not just an LSU problem. The football season will be 2-3 months longer and far less coverage of baseball and basketball. NIL investment pressure

We didn't exactly have great odds in the pre-NIL era either. Only made the 4 team playoff once in 10 years

How will we find a way to get more cash flow?

Only made playoffs once pre nil because lsu had les miles running into brick walls and ed o who caught lightning in a bottle. The head coach matters kinda esp before nil

And all those are having the same problems as everyone else. They're supported solely by boosters and collective. In case you haven't noticed the SEC wholly is down because of this and is no longer the sole dominant conference. There's nothing but parity all over because nobody can hold depth down.

Money is not LSU's problem as is the same for most SEC schools. It's everything else that NIL gives bigger markets that puts LSU at a disadvantage.

This hasn’t been proven. 3-4 teams from the SEC will get into the playoff. Let’s see what happens in January.

Hasn't been great in OOC play this year. Not only that, this is why everyone in the SEC knocks each other off. It's the parity and lack of depth is the issue here. OOC SEC's record is not impressive. You have Vanderbilts beating Bama, Bama destroying LSU in their house, LSU beating Vanderbilt, etc. It's a mess.

The SEC dominance and depth is going to teams like Oregon.

I would actually say the product on the field is starting to wane. High school kids getting paid without proving anything is degrading the sport. (Football) Talent makes you a stud in high school. Talent plus solid work ethic in college. Talent plus extreme work ethic in the NFL. Rewards are being given to kids just for being talented. Product….fricked. This will have echos all the way up to the league.

The golden age was during Les Miles early years up until 2012. Then the Silver age is Coach O, BK is the Bronze age.

NIL in bigger markets is going to be going mostly to players from the multiple pro teams that those markets have. At the college level, its still going to be boosters funding NIL for the most part, even in big markets.

Yeah, USCw is in a big market but they also share it with another B1G school plus 2 pro teams each in NFL, NBA, MLB plus an MLS and NHL team. So its not like being a starter at USC is going to automatically land huge NIL deals, aside from booster / collective pay to play that every major school in smaller markets is offering too

According to 247, LSU has the seventh most valuable NIL collective. Of course Oregon, A&M, are in Texas at the top three. But seven in all college football ain’t bad.

NFL salaries and NIL are different. NFL athletes have separate endorsements.

Get some perspective. LSU is recruiting at an elite level. We aren’t #1 but still damn good

Would have been #1 without pay for play. It’s tiresome pointing out the obvious.

Well honestly LSU really wasn’t ever a consistent top tier football program even before NIL. Maybe that early-mid 2000s era but that’s it. As far back as I can remember LSU has never been able to be a consistent 10-11 win football program and in the hunt most years. Just every 4-6 yrs or so.

You think just Bear Bryant’s son can compete with the likes of Phil Knight at Oregon or the gazillion billionaires that backs Texas? Lol

Bryants son is like our Gordon Mckernan. He will only get them so much.

I think as a fan base we need to lower our expectations. Pre Saban we would be glorifying going 9-3, 8-4. Realistically though we have been a consistent championship contender every 4 years or so. With that only 1 team has more titles in 20 year span than LSU and that would be our arch nemesis Alabama. I would love to see LSU really recruit the state even more than they already do. Find kids who really want to play for LSU. There are plenty great 3 and 4 star kids within a stones throw of Red Stick who can get you consistent enough to compete for championships.

Two of our losses were to teams at the time in worse shape than we are by any metric. We beat them and we are in the playoffs and not having this conversation.

Yes, NIL is a concern but its not the reason we cant win 10 games any given year and host playoff game or win the SEC and get a bye.
