Jets haven't been practicing in NOLA, but the weather has been shitty the last two days.

Surely there is an early morning noise ordinance that would preclude this

I hope so, it is veterans day. Would get my juiced up for sure.

I have a much better video of that one. I was sitting in the end zone. It looked we about to get destroyed.

The military staged over 1,000 stadium flyovers last year. Depending on how many fighter jets are involved, the cost per trip to taxpayers is from $150,000 to $450,000 - so that's somewhere roughly around a a quarter/third of a BILLION dollars wasted for a few seconds of flag-waving and chest-beating....
Meanwhile, veteran hospitals are under-funded and under-staffed, and public school teachers are buying pencils and paper out of their own pockets....

I have to agree. I would much rather see the money going to help vets.

Training is also done during those missions. It’s flight time and sorties that would happen regardless.

The pilots need the flight time, so it's either fly over a stadium and promote the military, or fly over random areas around the country.
The military views flyovers as promotional and recruiting opportunities for the armed services. They allow ordinary citizens to see the military up close in a way that's normally not possible.

There may be an early morning noise ordinance, but 11:00am can hardly be considered early morning.

I've heard stories of certain UH-60 pilots landing in a field next to a certain Houma area restaurant at lunchtime. All in the interest of maintaining their flight proficiency, of course. The delicious lunch specials being served at that time were just a coincidence.

That is quite the coincidence. If you have to check containers, might as well have some fun while you’re doing it.

Nope don’t know where you got those figures thats not even in the ball park. The only incurred cost would be fuel. Unless the university is charging for the fly over as part of recruitment. And no way DOD spends a B on that. I am familiar with the process and that math if way off
