The key to beat Bama is to minimize our turnovers and penalties. Our defense can hold them if they stay focused throughout these 2 weeks and put in some good work. Our offense needs to manage the clock and keep possession.

I would say Bama is better. I think it's hard to assess "better" when comparing blowouts.

There are probably some m atchups where Auburn is better though. We can ill afford to have a 1st quarter vs Bama like we had vs Auburn.

The problem with Bama is if you stop them on running downs and they pass on 3rd, Hurts can take off for 20+ yards and move the chains/score TDs multiple times per game.

Yep, and since they're allowed to hold, we'll have to have a LB or DB spy on him all game.

1st String for Bama did not play the entire game, you are looking at 2nd and 3rd String results for at least one quarter or more of a game.

I more worried about bama pounding it up the middle when we go three and out.Key and white are the key.we shut down the 2 of the better offenses in the west.
We have been good in the turnover department.
Keep penalties to a minimum.no personal fouls or targeting calls that can change momentum.they will be looking for gage, shark, guice will be who they look for constantly.
Bama hasn't been truly tested other than A&M.believe it or not we can make them one dimensional

The biggest difference between Auburn and Alabama is that Saban is a much better coach than Malzahn. Despite LSU's great effort in the second half, if Malzahn doesn't make a series of boneheaded coaching decision, Auburn wins. That will not happen against Alabama.

Also, we're playing Alabama on the road. LSU hasn't looked very good the last two times they were the visitors in this series.

You do realize they were playing the best passing offense in the SEC and had to give up something to manage the game

Check your stats, we have been suspect against the run all year. If last week was the first week, then you would have a point. We are 50th in run defense. 50th (67th rushing yards per game), not top 10, it's not an insult to say Alabama will be able to run the ball on us, doesn't mean we cannot win but don't poo poo Bama or make us seem better than we are.

Exactly.. BAMA's 1st team offense rarely played the 2nd half this year so the stats are not consistent.

Also Bama won't sit on a lead like Auburn did and just allow a team to get back into a game.

You should rename the thread to be

Is BAMA's OFFENSIVE LINE better than AUBURN'S

Yes it is....
There will be less than 10 pass attempts in that game, and NICK will Run IT DOWN OUR THROAT, harder then a $20 crack whore earns her money!!!!

Let's face it and be real, this is a loss and there is "nothing" optimistic about our chances

Bamas defense is likely gonna be the difference.

I don't want to be seen as diminishing Bama's defense, simply because I was encouraged by our play against Auburn. Bama's front seven isn't significantly better than Auburn's - they're comparable, at least, and fine - give the slight edge to Bama.

It is the secondary of Bama that makes the difference, IMHO. Bama has great athletes, 2-deep, particularly on defense and their defense is fairly complete - capable of playing man, zone or combination to deal with your offense.

To win this game 24 to 20, for example, will take the best game LSU has played in 2 seasons.

Good point, but I'm guessing Auburn took their foot off the gas a little in those blowouts over Ark & Ole Miss too.

If you're looking for a bright side, Bama had to keep their starters in the whole game vs. TAMU and ran for 4.6 yards/carry... Florida ran for 5.0 yards/carry against that same TAMU defense.

With HURT, we are going to have trouble again, Not a good passer, but has all day to throw the ball! He is also a better runner. To bad LSU don't like duel threat QB'S!

We completely shut down their offense last year, only TD came off a triple hold by their OL when Hurts scrambled the refs all apparently missed.

I think you have to stack that box and force Hurts to throw the football. You cannot let Hurts and Harris beat you on the ground, that's what they want to do. Bring the extra safety in the box to help stop the run. Gotta give the DL help, they cant hold up on their own all game against Alabama's front. We have struggled to stop the run all year, but at least against Bama we should be the most healthy we've been all season on the DL. I expect to see a lot of Lawrence, Gilmore, LaCouture, Herron and Alexander and very little to no Logan, Farrell, Thomas, Clark, etc...

Our DB corps is playing as well as anyone right now, you go straight man there and win that battle to focus on the run.

Alabama is bigger up front and Hurts is a better quarterback. Looking just at gross numbers doesn't really tell the tale. Like any sport, its timely production that matters, not the gross numbers alone. No team is perfect, however. That's why we play the game.
