All we need is 24. 22 for offense and defense + a deep snapper and kicker.

would it be if we put Kirklin under center and went service academy offense?

Not out of the realm of possibility. 49ers were out of running backs a few weeks ago and they moved Deebo Samuel from WR to RB and he rushed for over 100 yards and a TD.

KSU is not UF, Aub, Bama, A&M. Miles used to beat teams with a QB throwing less than 150 yds for the game.

Comical. Only 34 players short. Next year we will be another year without 85 and lucky to have 75 on the roster.
Cancel the game. Blame Covid

51 available scholarship players for the bowl game.

That is 51 AFTER injuries, transfers, opt-outs, etc etc....

51 is what's left.
Just remember, this is where opt-outs can (and likely will) affect others.

There's plenty of players who would love to play this game. Freshmen included, but not just them. Opt outs just might rob them of that chance.

I know the SEC rule was 53 scholarship players.

A) I don't think SEC rules apply to a NCAA sanctioned event, and I'm unsure of the NCAA rule. I thought it was 64 players dressed, scholarship or not, but I'm not confident in that.

B) Those were Covid rules, which were never officially removed but just might not be enforced in 2021.

That’s enough for 4 teams. I think we’re good.

Even after you posted this the people on here still don't comprehend that it is that many scholarship players.

51 of 85

LSU had 122 players on the official roster.

So let's assume there were 85 scholarship players on the team. That's 34 not available.

So 87 players left. Just round down to 80 for giggles. 3 full teams worth plus a couple.

Thanks for one last memory Ed. Cannot wait for this season to be over so the full on transformation can begin.

I know the SEC rule was 53 scholarship players.

The rule is 53 players to allow a team to reschedule or declare a no contest. They can still opt to play with less. At least it was that way last year.

From last year
SEC announces minimum roster requirements for its 2020 college football season, COVID-19 protocols

quote:

SEC teams will need to have at least 53 scholarship players available, including a quarterback, seven offensive linemen and four defensive linemen, according to guidelines announced by the league on Friday. If a team can't meet the minimum requirements, it can choose to play anyway. Otherwise, its game will be rescheduled or declared a no contest.

So what happened to our roster?

QB - Max transferred. Brennan has been hurt.
RB - TDP - not playing; Emery- Academics
WR - Boutte - season ending injury. K. Moore - transfer, D Smith - transfer, T. Palmer - transfer

OL - D Rosenthal transferred in late summer; not sure who else we are missing due to injuries.

DL - A. Anthony - season ending injury; L. Jackson - transfer; E. Taylor - transfer.... and I think someone else is injured.

LB - N Strong - transfer; D Clark - not playing bowl game.

DB - Stingley - when was the last time he played?
DB - Ricks. Transfer

I found 16 players. I bet there are 5-6 more on the roster that are injured. 16!!!

Does anyone know who else is out with injury?

The money the bowl games give the participating schools isn't meaningless...
