I think he's one of the best to play in the SEC. He gained much respect.

Peterson is awesome, but saying he is better than a proven NFL starter right now is stupid. You can say all day long he has the potential to be better than 90% of the starters in the NFL, and that would be just about right.

Which is true but i think CB is one of those natural positions, that doesn't benefit as much from coaching as other positions.

right.

PP has only played against 2 NFL caliber WR's this season. Those 2 WR's have QB's that wouldnt even make the NFL practice squad.

To a certain extent you are right. But you can't tell me PP is better than a guy who has "contained" the likes of TO and Randy Moss.

There is a certain learning curve when entering the NFL, and most rookie CBs get bent over by the elite WRs in the league until they wise up.

Will PP get there? Absolutely. Is he there now? Not even close.

you aint kiddin bro...

Yeah, I usually stay away from outlandish statements like that, but really, he is that good. The guy has every single tool needed to go down as an all time great.

The way he absolutely shut down Julio, who I consider to be one of the most freakishly gifted WRs I've seen, was absolutely stunning to me.

The INT that was taken away was an UNBELIEVABLE play. When I saw the play in live speed, I thought there was no way he was even close to being in bounds. He was moving so fast out of the break, I didn't think he'd even be able to get one foot down. I honestly couldn't believe how he controlled his feet on that replay.

A real shame that that play hasn't gotten more pub just for the play itself, not even the call. I wonder when the national media will pick up on this stud.

Can't wait to see if Snead or Mallet try to test him. Those games will be fun.

It's still Corey Webster right now but Peterson is a cinch to surpass him next year if he stays healthy.

There is a difference between guys who are "NFL caliber" in college and guys who are "elite" in the actual NFL.

Big difference. CWeb can contain the elites. PP, if he stepped on the field TODAY against a TO or a Moss, would get owned.

Webster's ball skills and technique his Senior year > than Peterson's right now. It was an absolute CB clinic every time the ball (especially a deep ball) was thrown his way. A real joy to watch. I was shocked at how long it took Webster to adapt to the NFL quite frankly.

But Webster had the benefit of working with Saban and having 4 years under his belt.

Peterson's raw ability is > Webster's and he will definitely pass him as he continues to work hard and gain experience.

Julio has been shut down all year. Prior to the LSU game, Julio had 20rec and 1TD in 8 games.

Also you have to consider who Julio has throwing to him.

With that said, I think PP is one bad mofo. he has a good shot at being a top10 draft pick.

I remember some comments from non-LSU fans and analysts at Rivals that this kid was the best CB prospect in the modern, internet-based recruiting era when he was in high school.

sarkisian said he was the best player he ever saw come through a usc camp and that's saying a ton

A good shot?! That size, speed, long arms, and natural ability to play pretty much guarantee him of being a top ten pick barring injury....

I really couldn't have stated this any better.

I was kinda thinking this as well. I wanted PP to get the pick just for his highlight reel.

No. Julio has been limited because of Bama's game plan and because of a knee injury. Saban said going into the LSU game he was healthy for the first time all year, and Bama made a conscious effort to get him the ball for the first time all year, and it probably would have cost them the game if PP hadn't gone out with cramps.

close... between him and webster's junior year for the best by a cb this decade

Right now I'd have to give it to webster because he did it in big game after big game tho (including sec ccg and NC game)

webster was hurt most of his senior year if people think a little harder... his senior year was fairly unremarkable
