You edited it. LF is great but we have been very good at running the football before he got here.

Don't underestimate Cam's impact in the run game. Tomlinson set the NFL record for most touchdowns in a season with Cam as OC. Rice had two, 2,000-yard seasons from scrimmage. His running backs are always highly productive.

the fact that we have been successful this year with one of the best rb's in sec history (arguably) by lining up and smashing forward every down doesnt mean miles is a great 'running coach'.

I wonder why you guys won't acknowledge the fact that with the running game we have, 75-150 yards passing is we need.

That makes Les a great coach. A bad coach forces a so so QB to pass for 200 yards no matter how bad his completion percentage is.

If we had Tom Brady on our teAm and we forced our offense to run 50% of the time every one would bitch their asses off.

Why is it one way but not the other?

Not even remotely close. We run the same running play 30 times a game.

Um he knows how to coach his linemen up to execute. Regardless who has been the offensive coordinator.. Miles still specializes in the run blocking.. He was a tight ends coach and offensive lineman in college..

Miles does not get enough credit.. if you see him at the end of games he is often still coaching up his players or instructing detail.. at some point he deserves more credit than he receives.. and yes his philosophy of maintaining to win at the back end frustrates the crap out of me.. but I still give him credit as an instructor. He has earned it.

Les Miles is top 5 best coach in cfb. Deal with it.

He absolutely is.. He really and truly is.. Regardless how people think he is an idiot.. He has his own style, but the man is as consistent as anyone at putting a winning product on the field.

There's been up and coming "hot" coaches over the years LSU fans all wanted.. and they all flamed out within a year or two.. Sure, Miles underachieves in years.. but he has this team in the National Championship hunt every 4 years.. and right now.. his hiring of assistant coaches he has put together are among his best.. and we are in store for something seriously special ahead..

He deserves more credit than he receives. I still appreciate him, even though he pisses me off some few times.. it's truly a Love Hate Love relationship

The words Miles, best and coach should never be used in the same sentence.

Let me guess, you think Ed O is the best on the staff?

Yeah whatever happened to that Urban guy at Utah? What's he doing now, running zone read offense at some high school probably.

bullshite. They do it because they teach players blocking assignments. This notion that you have to be able to throw the ball to run the ball is complete bullshite.

You've been here long enough to realize that any posting thing about lsu's offense has nothing to do with Miles and every bad thing about lsu's offense is 100% on Miles.

Well, one of the most productive offenses ever was run by the 1971 Oklahoma Sooners. It was not what you would call a "balanced offense". They averaged over 470 yards on the ground alone. We are not even close.

Cool article on fullback John David Moore: LINK

quote:

These days, spread offenses use three and four wide-receivers on each play, throwing the football on virtually every snap. It may be that the fullback is going the way of the dodo bird with fewer and fewer teams relying on the position. But some schools still use a big bruiser as a ball carrier and blocker in backfield ? and the LSU Tigers are one of them. When the Tigers needed a big play on the road against the Syracuse Orange, it was their fullback, John David Moore, who led the way.

best running game coach

I'm not entirely certain what that means. There are so many different parts of the running game that have to be coordinated to make it successful that no one coach is going to be solely responsible for its success.

We're not doing anything innovative with our running game. We pull our guards and tackles just like every other team. We're just really really talented on the offensive line and at the RB position. And we have WR's who don't shy away from a block.

Miles deserves credit as the head coach but I wouldn't call him a running game coach.

Wait, I can criticize Miles just like everyone else. We criticize the passing game, we know what the passing game is, and we blame Miles. But we "don't know" what the running game is and can't give Miles the credit when all we talk about is how Miles is the one in control of running the ball? Huh?????

I am not a Miles fan but have to respect the fact that LSU runs on anyone
