No.

It was part of a plan to save LSU $5 million and strongly encourage Les to take a new job. And Les wouldn't have taken the deal if he didn't have a damn strong job opportunity in mind.

Has absolutely zero to do with anything else.

Prob not for an extenstion but it certainly factors in if they decide to make a change at some point in the future.

Les just freed up about $5m off the books over the next 4 years in the event an O buyout has to occur.

This was a great day for LSU!!

The money we saved can be used to buy O out.

That sounds like something Alleva would do.

It was Les who approached Alleva with this deal. There is no plan. This fell in Alleva's lap.

I suspect you are probably right.

Only Les would know if he had serious job prospects that would generate enough income (or more) to offset what he'd be giving up by taking the lump sum now. Les was probably not loving pretending to be interested in jobs just to keep the payments coming when he'd rather just plunge right back into coaching. He's a competitive guy. He loves watching his kids play but he misses being in the arena.

Then again, maybe the SEC Network is going to give him his own show.

This deal has nothing to do with LSU, and everything to do with Les. I’m not saying LSU won’t benefit from having a little money put back in their pockets, but they didn’t go to Les asking him to agree to leave $5M on the table.

If O gets an extension without winning the West Alleva’s absurd vendetta against Miles which led us to our current predicament will be on full display for all see.
