Also throw in the U and FSU in there. They're still popular because of their glory days in the 90's.

Merchandising data [link=(here)]https://www.clc.com/clcweb/publishing.nsf/Content/Third+Quarter+Rankings+2007-2008[/link]:

Ranking:

(1.) The University of Texas at Austin
(2.) The University of Michigan
(3.) The University of Florida
(4.) University of Notre Dame
(5.) LSU
(6.) University of Georgia
(7.) University of North Carolina
(8.) The Pennsylvania State University
(9.) The University of Alabama
(10.) University of Tennessee at Knoxville
(11.) University of Oklahoma
(12.) Auburn University

These data are for 1st quarter 2008, the most recent available on CLC's website.

We're more popular than I would have thought.

I live in te state of Washington and I can tell you LSU is liked here partly because they hate USC and we all(LSU fans who live here) can't go to store and buy LSU stuff. Watched LSU game at sports bar and it loud when LSU took the lead with that halfback pass and people rocked the place when Lafell scored it was silent until LSU took the lead.

That data is tough to go by because a number of schools, SC for one, do their own licensing or use a different company.

I'm a bit surprised actually to see Florida and Texas ahead of ND

Not. Notre Dame has a much larger Nation-wide following, even though they're not worth a sh!t.

I'd rather be unpopular and hold the crystal ball boys. There's only one team with two, and it aint Notre Dame or USC is it?

That sounds so lame to me when either of those programs have so many National Titles...whatever relic is given to put on a shelf is just a symbol, it's the title that mattas.

The only good significance of the "Crystal ball" is that it indicates recently but actually the crystal ball has been given to the winning team since before the BCS.
