Larry Horton of Texas A&M.

It's possible he still feels this hit today.

BTW, the Tiger who laid him out: Odell Beckham Sr. I have to believe he taught his son the proper way to greet an Aggie.

Got e-mail containing Wolfe rankings (another part of BCS formula): 1. LSU, 2. Bama, 3. Ok State, 4. Arkansas, 5. Kansas State, 6. Oregon

Lousy throw. Led him too much when open in the end zone. Was a tough catch that stretched out.

WTF are they doing?

The timeout is curious. The chances of disaster here on 1 play have to be greater than the chances of a score.
From the 10. You would be foolish not to.
Props to GMorgan for the PBP. Props to Matty Ice for being Ice. And props to Dozar for ending the thing. :geauxtigers:
How many long passes did JJ complete last night? I think he had one deep in complete, but when he went up top, not so good.

I remember the overthrow to Mitchell, the nowhere close throw in the right corner to Peterson, the overthrown interception to Dickson, the bad fade route to Toliver.

Yes, it would be great to "up top" more, but we don't have evidence yet that JJ can throw such passes with any level of success.

Literally

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Gorilla ball == lots of home runs.
Guerrilla ball == hidden ball trick.

Plus, their intramural basketball team should be very good.
Texas dominated Game 2. LSU dominated Game 3. The "rubber" game of the series was Game 1, and DJ's double was the biggest hit of the game. If he makes an out, we lose. If he doubles, we are now a coin flip to win. Mikie's hit was great, but if he doesn't, we go back to a coin flip to win.

FYI--it's an award for the entire CWS, not just the championship series. The award is titled the Most Outstanding Player. May change how voters think of it.

I thought it would be JMitch after the homer in the 1st.

Don't know where you got 65K. UT has like 48,000 students. Your general point is correct. The Horns have a bigger base to pull from, but the Tigers have more fans.

Geaux.
LSU has dominated all three of its opponents, and put the last 2 games out of reach by the final 3 innings.

Texas won two one run games, and won its other game against a team handicapped by playing with its hands wrapped around its neck.

I don't know where ESPN's announcers would have had the time or rationale to imply that LSU was better.
What's Murphy doing with the pep talk? They're not playing tomorrow.
All this bunting. All this giving up of outs so early in the ballgame. If you play for one run, you just might get one run...and only one run.
Good to hear that Ross is up. Will he start Game 2? By limiting the Jersey boy to <80 pitches, he's probably good to go in Game 2 of the Championship series.

Regardless, well done Tigers. Geaux.

Another difference implied by Carl's piece. A decade ago, coaches had more control over what commentary their players could and could not see.

Today, with message boards such as this, blogs, twitter, and half of the state trying to fried players on Facebook, it is easier for players to hear/read critical comments.

I agree with those who think it would great if players simply ignored all this. Easier said than done. Further, a player good enough to earn a scholly to LSU has probably been the best (or among the handful of best) player on their high school team. College ball is of course tougher. New players are facing some of their greatest struggles in their athletic career. And they are receiving full-throated criticism for the first time. I would imagine it's not easy to get used to that level of scrutiny.

Much of this conversation specifically involves Austin Nola. I see offensive improvement in him so far this season, and it seems to me he has the potential for greater offensive improvement over the next couple of seasons.
Wood (UT) strikes out the BC Eagle. They're going to the 20th.
Wood gives up a single. His first hit in 12 1/3 innings. BC has runners on 1st & 2nd with 2 outs.

Hate to ask this, but how are yall keeping up with this game?

See my post above for the link to the UT audio feed.

BC gets out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 19th. A 12th inning for UT's Austin Wood?

Edit: Yes, Wood is throwing his 150th pitch of the night to start the bottom of the 19th.
