won the SEC this year??
We are past the point, as a program, where SEC Championships determine the success of a year. This isn't football or basketball.

I think in baseball, LSU caught a surprising Stony Brook team that could have given both South Carolina and Arkansas fits in a Regional or in a Super.
It does appear to me that South Carolina though is making an argument for being the team of the decade but LSU is still a perennial program that attract high level baseball talent. The MLB draft, however, often depletes the potential recruit availability from those who actually show up on campus. Not sure if that is bad luck or we need to find better talent. Not blaming anyone in particular here.
I do think LSU is better than Arkansas but Florida and SC are making headway with there programs. The Tigers are SEC champs however ! But I know our fans don't care about SEC titles but rather runs in Omaha. We have been spoiled and I think jealousy is setting in when our fans look at SC and Florida making repeatedly trips to Omaha. We think, "It should be us there..not them."
LSU has to improve in speed and hitting. Losing Gausman, Goody, Hanover, and Nola are going to bite the Tigers next season. We are going to need some guys to step up next season and take charge of the team. I will not hold my breath on Maineri making any changes with the staff. It is hard to fire anyone when your program won the SEC Championship, right ?

LSU went 7-2 against those teams this year, and won the SEC. They are all in CWS...sometimes it works out that way. Florida probably has a better baseball team than LSU right now. LSU and SC are pretty close. Arkansas is not better than LSU...they never challenged for the West, plus were swept by LSU. Stupid Thread.

I'll disregard the period, assume this is a question, and answer it with another: when will you be finishing up your GED?

I agree-not a very bright post--LSU won the SEC--just because USC, Ark, & Florida made CWS doesnt make them better--they lost to us in the regular season--cannot compare apples to oranges. BTW, when are you going to realize Stony Brook was an excellent team?? No fluke

So taking the series from Arky, UF, and SC but loosing to Sb in a super makes LSU 4th best? Makes total sense to me

We're SEC Season Champs and they went 7-2 against USCe, Fla and Arky.
Our position in the SEC was settled during the season. I'm not ranking them anywhere behind those other teams.
Kentucky was damn good too and they didn't even make a Super Regional, I still wouldn't take anything away from what they accomplished this season.

Team, 3rd.
Program, very little difference between the top 3 but LSU would probably be 3rd.
Arkansas really isn't in the conversation IMO.

Negative. We beat all three of those teams.. We just had a tougher Super Regional matchup

Might get flamed but right now I would say LSU is the 3rd best baseball program in the SEC right now.
Obviously USC is the two time defending national champs and back in Omaha this year so its hard to argue them not being the top program.
LSU and UF are about on par right now. UF has played in the CWS final twice in the last 7 years and been to Omaha 3 straight years. Right now, they are the favorite to win it all so I think if they finally get a baseball title, it will separate them from LSU a bit.
Being the in the top 2 or 3 in baseball and the second best football program right now is still pretty awesome

Shouldn't get flamed at all especially if someone is looking at the state of the programs right now.
Pretty much agree with you except I think UF needs to win a national championship to jump LSU. Yet, based on past 3 years, hard to argue that LSU is better program than Florida.

No way arkansas even belongs in th ediscussion....lsu was clearly better than them this year, but probably 3rd best team in the conference, which isnt bad when you consider SCar abd Florida are prob 2 of the top 3 or 4 in the country

Yeah, the current state. All time, there is no debating that LSU is the best baseball program.
The same goes for football. LSU is the second best football program currently....but probably ranks about 6th all time.

No, after Bama and Tennessee comes LSU.

Yep. Agree entirely. If you start breaking things down into 3, 5 and 10 year intervals, it's pretty hard to make the argument that LSU has been the best program in the SEC for the past decade.

I don't know how you can justify placing LSU number six all time. Only two schools have won more conference championships than LSU and the Tigers could take over the number two spot in the coming years.

Good point. 4th or 5th is probably a better placement.
To me, I look at CFB pre world war 2 and post world war 2. In the modern era of football
LSU has 3 national titles, the same as UF.
LSU has 9 SEC titles with a few of them shared. UF had 9 with one being revoked. The other 8 were after the SEC went to the SECCG format.
LSU has 1 heisman and 27 all americans
UF has 3 heismans and 31 all americans
And the most telling stat....
Florida has the head to head series lead....in Gainesville and Baton Rouge.
