re: Is LSU-Arizona State 2005 the most insane LSU football game no one talks about?

But...but...he caught it completely inbounds! He just made a "football move." That, sirs, was a CATCH!

Doucet didnt catch that pass. Would have been overruled in replay.

Every time they showed the ASU coach i kept thinking that he reminded me of Mark Summers.

I have it on VHS and watch it from time to time.
That 4th down TD by Jamarcus to Early was great

You're right, and it wasn't just the game, it was the circumstances. It was a HOME game in the desert that I watched in Orlando. We had booked the trip before the storm and weren't going to go with everything going on, but we had family who had evacuated, our house was mostly undamaged and we had gotten power back, so we just gave them our house and went on the trip for a break. The chaos of that game seemed to mirror the chaos at home a little and seeing it end well was good for the soul.

I had the great pleasure of being there. I was depressed thinking it was over (I had to live amongst Sun Devil fans then + I'm an ASU grad) then magic happened! Unreal.

They opened up Tiger Stadium that game for Fans to watch? I wish they'd do that for away games when I was a student. That would've been fun.

Well done. Not enough upvotes for me to give.

Apparently that was a one-off decision as the game was scheduled to be played in Tiger Stadium and it was a late decision to send the team out to Tempe.

I remember watching that game at The Varsity on the big screen after going to BR to avoid Katrina.
Needless to say, place got lit after the TD.

Yeah. It was another perfect pass from Russell to Doucet, hit him in the hands right at his shoulders and he didn't solidly catch it. We got very lucky that night.

We were there too. So glad we were able to make the trip. I was so nervous and pacing the stadium when they were about to go up by three scores…went back to my seat and saw the score and was all WTF?!?!
There was an ASU dude in the middle of our section who never let up yelling for his team. He was crushed…I mean CRUSHED to lose that game
The only negative is I never knew what time is was lol

Had just evacuated to Minnesota after Katrina. Feeling bummed about the disaster. Watching that game was a great escape from uncertainty of our lives. Great game. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the link ,first time I've seen highlites of the game.Like many others I'd forgotten what a great come-back victory for our Tigers.I was dove and quail hunting in northern Mexico and listening to WWL radio.Because the game was moved from BR to Arizona(Katrina)it didn't start till 9:00pm;I fell asleep with our Tigers loosing very late in The 4th quarter.
Sunday morning at the private airport in Zapata,Texas (we flew down from Austin,Texas in my buddy's plane) we were loading our gear when another small private plane landed.
The first guy off that plane was wearing LSU gear.I walked over to him and said "tough game last night what was the final score?"
He yelled WE WON 35-31 !!!
