Did he really curse out Ronnie Prude for blowing coverage, almost get in a fist fight with Ronnie, then leave the stadium without addressing his players? I've heard this before but nothing from a credintialed source. If that were indeed true...Dang you Nicki!!!

supposedly got on Prude who told him that he was no longer his coach. Iowa held blatantly on that play and it wasn't called.

The officials were not in position on that play. Missed two holds. Still have no clue why Saban did not call a time out before the ball was snapped. Iowa had 1 play left no matter what. Why not at least set up prevent.

Worst clock management game while Saban was at LSU.

Sadly Miles outdid him this year in that Ole Miss game.

And Brown at Texas came scary close to making their mistakes look tiny. Losing a NC shot because u forgot to call a time out and your QB decides to scramble = fail on all levels. If it was a completed pass the clock would have ran out. If it was tipped the clock would have ran out. If it was a sack the clock runs out. Basically what happened is the only thing that could have happened to save him.

Several players told him that after the game when he got on them hard. Jamarcuss put us back in the game and he got on him bad afterwards which JR didn't appreciate and told him how he felt.

Saban does chew on players pretty hard. When JR fumbled on the 1 yard line against florda his first season, I saw LM pat him on the butt and tell him better luck next time, kinda made me I was expecting a butt chewing...it never came.

People keep bringing up this game, but really...did you feel worse after Iowa beat us or after we lost to Alabama last year? Or after we lost to Alabama this year?

I mean it was a good bowl game. It meant nothing that we lost...except that it was on our record. When we lose to conference and divisional opponents...those games hurt because they chip away at a chance to do something important, like win the SEC. Just don't know why people care about the 2004 Cap 1 Bowl so much.

And JR ended up being the best QB in the SEC, won tons of games including a BCS bowl and was the first pick in the NFL draft....so how exactly did Miles mess up with him?

This seems like a "fun" story now 5 years later, but I never heard any of this at the time. I have my doubts.

why would he get on JR after he'd played as well as had all year? unless it was for his supposed spat with Jimbo that had him at 3rd string, but it seems like the demotion would have been enough "getting on him".

I'm a Saban fan, yet must say that if he wasn't such a hard@ss in punishing JR by sitting him all game until desperate..

The Prude/Two Holding/Final Play/Left a TO on the scoreboard angles..are all nada.

LSU would've worn Iowa's D out all day.

Just comparing/contrasting coaching styles. I was used to seeing Satan yelling at players when they came off the field after doing bone headed things that cost us the game, and sometimes following them to the bench to chew some more. Then see the butt patting stuff and it was just different.

I'll admit Hookfin was awful his first couple years at LSU, but he really came around his senior year and was a pretty solid corner. Prude, on the other hand, was just downright awful on defense and special teams his whole career. One of my least favorite Tigers of all time.
