Saw a report yesterday that in the Wofford vs LSU game he was 92% right balls and strikes calls for Wofford, he was 82% right balls and strike calls for LSU. 10% is a drastic difference in baseball.

He is also the guy who made the runners interference call yesterday.

There needs to be an investigation done, he may have someone betting for him across the country like Alabama baseball coach last year.

Can anything truly be done about this? How much does the NCAA actually look into their umpires and their performance. College baseball is growing it should be an important enough thing for them to look at.

Are some pitchers harder to call than others? Jump lives on the edge of the strike zone

I’ve never been an umpire, but I will say one of Skenes outing in the MLB the umpire behind home plate got the worst percentage of the season that game because he was having such a hard time.

Idk where these umpires are from but they can’t be ACC or SEC so maybe a small conference where they aren’t use to good pitching? Jump also has a different release than most pitchers he’s very deceptive but idk how that affects the umpires ability to call balls and strikes.

Radio was giving it to them Friday when he was squeezing Jump and the Wofford pitcher was getting a wide zone.

I can’t find the report but I saw in another tigerdroppings thread someone talking about it and saying it was Doug Thompson.

I think I saw it on Twitter.

The radio booth has access to Trackman so they can see where the pitches are.

It’s baseball, quit complaining about umps and hit and catch the ball. The remainder takes care of itself

That interference call was 100% about an umpire wanting to get some attention. It wasn’t even close to a bad slide.

Kellen Levy was also the umpire at home plate for one of the ND vs. Tennessee games in 2022 when Drew Gilbert was ejected for questioning his ball and strike calls, which ultimately led to Tennessee's ouster from the tournament. Knoxvillenews.com

More reading on Levy hogspports.com

quote:

"Nebraska struggled to pitch into home plate umpire Kellen Levy’s strike zone Saturday, however, when the Huskers walked 10 Razorbacks during a 5-1 loss to Arkansas at Baum-Walker Stadium.

The 10 walks tied a season high for Nebraska, which was set previously during a 7-6 victory over Indiana on May 8. "

Looks like Levy is a Big West conference umpire as a quick search of box scores over the past several years indicates him working conference games at Cal Poly. Long Beach State, Hawaii, UC Irvine, etc., although he has worked some Pac12 games.

Unfortunately, he will probably be behind the plate for our game with Wofford this morning due to the rotation.
