keep saying this but nobody listens. LSU was ranked higher on D in 2013 vs the O in both the SEC and nationally.
People talk about the total offense not being ranked that high, I don't think that is fair. In some of the ooc games Jennings was playing in the 3rd quarter. Mett maybe attempted 1-2 passes in the second half. We do not run up the score. Yet teams like tamu are still throwing bombs while up 70 on Lamar. That's what skews the rankings, we could have easily padded stats in a couple of games in 2013, we didn't. Just a couple hundred more yards could move your offensive rankings. Which could have easily been achieved if they wanted to.
Looking at the d, no matter how high they were ranked, we struggled to get off the field on 3rd downs.

We do not run up the score.

Is Ed O the best hire Miles has made at LSU?

All that is true enough 6, except the Jennings part. He did come in on 3 and 1 type plays every now and then and run the ball. Mostly it was Mett handing the ball off at the end of wins. Mett screwed up the OM game in the first half and we couldn't stop UGA all game. Copeland's fumble against Bama didn't help, but clearly the Tigers didn't stop them after it was 17-17 in the early 3rd Q. Of course the O didn't do much either after that.

I don't know - has he coached a game yet??? Jeez, let's see what he does for few years before we start considering this.

Still think about that loss to Arky at home in triple OT. All he had to do was call a blitz one time when Arkansas had the ball last on 4th down. The dude doesn't believe in blitzing for some damn reason. Arky QB had all day in the pocket until he found a RB out of the backfield to keep the drive alive. Just stupid! And they were terrible at containing McFadden the whole game.
lost that game offensively in the first half, imo.

He didn't recruit much but that was known about him from the start.
It was also a liability that LSU no longer has to carry despite the fact that he did a good job as DC here.
But Pelini still has 3 straight Top 3 ranked defenses nationally. And the 2011 seaon was still a national championship season where his defense did it's part in the dismantling of Ohio St. I remember how everyone thought Ohio St. had just as much speed as LSU then but our defense rattled and pressured that offense. The score was 31-10 with 1:40 left in the 4th.

Great. Think we could find someone to do the same for quarterbacks?
Different thread, my man.

Yes.
His track record proves it as a recruiter and development of NFL players.....we need to hold him may be hard.....

All those i listed were great hires except Crowton which we didnt realize until after.
Wait, wasn't this guy on the sideline of the 2007 NC game?

Pelini was pretty good too. One of the most overrated defensive coordinators in college football. I still can't get over how many points that '07 defense allowed down the back stretch of the season.

It's been good so far, but lets let him coach a season first.
I'm also still a little worried about him getting us in trouble in some way with recruiting.
This.^^^

Isn't it a little early to tell?
For the Rant? No. I'm eagerly anticipating the calls for Orgeron to be fired the first time a running back busts through the line for a long run.

Isn't d-line coach one of the easier groups to coach
Posted on 7/26/15 at 9:28 pm to Statsattack
D line is not easy to coach, is highly technical and the successful d line coach has to have sufficient numbers of mature and motivated players to have success in the SECw. I feel confident O will have his players motivated to play each week, but not so confident that he will have 10-12 guys ready to rotate in and keep guys fresh to dominate in the 4th quarter. Hopeful, but we will see by November.

Yes crowton was awesome in 2007. But he did not mesh with miles the next few years and was plain terrible by the end of his run at lsu.
