re: Is Brad Davis really that good a recruiter?

He must be extremely raw. He doesn't even dress out. I'm guessing they paid a pretty penny for Solomon Thomas.
He was injured all of Fall Camp. Where have you been?

Prob that he has landed highly regarded players over and over
How many of those could have been landed by someone else?

Offer to keep as a Off field staff / analyst, but he is a horrible OL coach.

Brad Davis/Sloan are House 2.0 this season.

He obviously chased stars and has little expertise in true evaluation and projection of potential success in the SEC. Since he has no idea how to coach these undertalented linemen, you can clearly see what the results are every Saturday. And we will continue to see the same until Davis is long gone and LSU hires a real oline coach that knows techniques, what play designs work and why working with a new OC. Otherwise, fogetaboutit!

he is injured. Why wouldn’t that be your initial guess
Didn't he break a toe in july?
Kelly said he would be out a month.
Is there another injury?
Just seems weird he wouldn't even dress out.

Such a strange position to be in having seemingly a lame-duck OL coach and OC yet still hoping for a playoff birth, which is absolutely achievable and in-reach by winning the next 3 games.

100% casual bullshite. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Look at the offers the guys we have got in recruiting and how well some of those OLs are playing and developing guys. Look at the volume of high 4 and 5 star players on this roster over the last 3 seasons. There are not that many busts on one team when the composite rankings, especially for borderline 5s and full 5* star OL, have proven to have a very high hit rate across the sport.
Talent is NOT the problem. When you have this many high 4 and 5* players on one team not producing as expected, development and coaching are the obvious issues. Well, obvious to anyone who knows anything about college football.

He’s a true freshman, so that put him well behind the curve learning the offense and getting used to everything. Curne has a pretty hefty advantage for a true freshman being able to go through the entire Summer and Camp without issues.
As talented as he is, maybe he catches up some over the Bye Week and makes a push to get some PT later in the season.

Was a fan, but not anymore. Our OLs have been dismal the last couple of years and he's the man in charge of that position. Time to move and find a real OL coach! He may be the world's best OL recruiter, but if you don't know how to coach them and get them better, it doesn't matter how talented they are on paper because they're not going to get any better under Davis!
