He may be the first casualty of the NIL era. As soon as he got a deal, his effort and results went south.

Obviously not the same player post injury

Everyone here is an expert, physician and psychologist.
Love the players until they are injured, then they are crap.
Anyone remember the Great Reggie White. He was injured at Tn, and for a couple years he did nothing.
Fans treated him exactly as we are treating Boutte. Once he healed he became dominant, then led the Green Bay defense to a Super Bowl victory.
I wish Boutte a full recovery and success.

I love how you can talk shite about a player who had a terrible injury and the admins allow it. But calling out jd for his terrible play gets a PM. KB wasnt the same after his injury but let’s keep shitting on him.

Maybe because Jayden is a good kid who left it all on the field this season through ups and downs? Boutte came across as an attitude problem from his very early interview with Culotta and it snowballed from there. I don’t feel sorry for that dude, he didn’t give a frick all season

He has question marks on pretty much every major criteria the NFL looks for.

Character matters.

He had some pretty major ones. If he were Randy Moss they'd overlook. But he's a marginal first round guy with character issues and only one year of decent production.

He doesn’t excel at anything. Lack of size, speed, doesn’t catch the ball exceptionally well and not a great route runner. Tack on a questionable attitude and it results in a not so great draft outlook.

“ Jeremiah thought Boutte drifted on routes and wasn’t physical at the catch point. Brugler agreed, writing Boutte “has a bad habit of leaning as a route runner, tipping his break” and needed to get better at contested catches. He said scouts projected a slot-only option at 5-foot-11.
“I can’t say there are dominant traits,” the NFC scout said. “He’s right at the bar in a bunch of things. He’s not an exceptional guy like some of the guys they had in the past.

“An elite high school track runner, he confidently said he would run the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds at the combine. He clocked a 4.50 instead, the 23rd-fastest time among receivers, and struggled in the jumps.”

Kid is a head case and didn’t fool the NFL one bit.

If he is there late 4th early 5th I think Bengals should go get him. He won’t be a little bitch if Chase and Burrow push him to get back to work. Worth a 5th round pick for potential upside IMO

I think the injury was big time and he did not work through it to get in tip top shape afterwards

Boutte is nothing compared to White, and suffers by any comparison.
White started for four years at Tenn., playing out his eligibility as a Sr., consensus All American, SEC Player of Year and Lombardi Finalist.
Even when injured ( ankle) as a Jr., he didn’t pout, didn’t threaten to leave or quit, but played thru it, leading his team in tackles even THAT year.
He was very active in FCA and was an ordained minister while still in college.
That same level of commitment earned him many NFL honors Boutte will never sniff.
Go review the video of Boutte when he was flirting with a transfer to Alabama. Boutte told us who he was as a person.
Good luck to him, but he does not compare to Reggie White .

This is the reason. He tested poorly and cost him.

Other guys with terrible testing have been drafted..

It’s all about his apparent attitude shown this past season.

He is one that would have truly benefitted from sitting out and getting draft/NFL ready.

A combination of injury showing it destroyed his burst, his attitude on the field last year, and lackluster combine results confirming the injury may have permanently reduced his burst.

-He had a major injury which he didn't show he'd bounced back from physically
-He had a bad year
-There's no way this staff would describe him to scouts as low maintenance
-Most importantly, he worked out very poorly
