Is there a big market in the NBA for 'point forwards' ?

Yes, you can find almost all of them in the NBA hall of fame. More specifically, you can find them on the NBA top 20 list. They are EXTREMELY rare.

They tend to go #1 overall in the NBA draft too

With a deadly jump shot (like a Dirk Nowitzki) could be as good as Dirk. But that is a big if since he at this time has zero jump shot ability from beyond 6 feet. Plus Nowitzki is way more physical and tough.

I would say that Ben is more like Anthony Davis..... but then again Davis can shoot from the outside.

Anthony Davis had a terrible shot coming out of college. He shot less than 35% mid range.

He developed into an outside shooter, improving year to year. Now he's one of the best spot shooters from the top of the key in the NBA.

AD is a very good comparison to him. AD is longer and blocks more shots, but doesn't handle the ball or pass as well as Simmons.

Simmons will be top 3 in the draft for sure, but i dont think he will go #1. Buddy Hield from OU is a good player and could go in front of Simmons.

Simmons is a lock for #1 unless some freak injury happens

Buddy Hield MIGHT go top 5, but he certainly isn't a lock for it. He's a DAMN good player, but he's still a 6'4 SG

Magic, Bird, and Lebron are all pretty good examples of different styles of Point Forward

can't wait till about this time next year so that I can see a future hall of fame point forward in action at the beginning stages of his NBA career

Anthony Davis isn't a point forward. There seriously hasn't been a guy with Ben Simmons measurables and ball skills available in the draft for a decade or more.

How in the hell did this go nine pages?

A simple yes /thread would have sufficed.

1, when did I do that? But you did compare him to Dirk citing his toughness

2, way to take that sentence completely out of context. It was from a shooting ability standpoint.

In college, they have similar range and limitations. They have similar builds and athleticism.

I commented on the differences in playing style. There isn't really an NBA player he compares to in terms of style, ability, size, potential, etc.

He'll be an elite transition player at day 1 in the NBA, and more and more teams like to run.

Without demeaning his talent I think he should play college ball for at least one more year.

Simple math. There is no higher draft pick than #1. So if he is that guy he gains nothing by staying.

fair enough, I agree with that. But I just think that a lot of what people see in him is based off potential, which I guess could be said about just about every NBA draft pick. But there are some players you can see right away that they are going to be stars in the NBA, for me, Its just not so obvious with Simmons. But on the other hand, I can see his potential is off the charts (if he toughens up, which he will, and develops into a good shooter, which no reason to believe he won't.)

I am a fan and I just think his career in the NBA is going to be very interesting to watch

This is just stupid... He may not go #1 but it wont be because of his age...

Of course he's one and done. Why would he come back, won't increase his draft position missing NCAA's next year too.

But if he develops a really great jump shot he could be like a really tall Steph Curry.
Steph Curry is one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA. He was a shooting guard most of the time in college.

By far the best comparison to Simmons is Danny Manning with an inside game like Joe Smith.
