He was 1 of our best players this past seasons and shined....
Jones played in 6 games this entire season. Kwon wasnt under anybodys wing.

What does that have to do with it? I don't care where he was on the depth chart last summer, how many stars Scout gave him, his 40 time or his favorite color. Remind me when we get a quarterback at LSU that plays like he played last year. I haven't seen it in my lifetime. I'm not definitively saying we don't have one on the roster right now, but there's absolutely no reason to think we do at this point.
The point I'm trying to make is that one poster is being a "debi downer" because of our Jennings' lack of experience.......but he showed enough to be the #2 guy ahead of 2 older QB's with game experience where as Winston did not show that as a true freshman.

don't mean to be a debbie downer but if you think we are going to shine with a qb that has played 1 game and a RB that hasn't played any, you are in for a surprise. We'll probably do the same as last year. Lose a couple SEC games and come in 2nd or 3rd. It really depends on how dependent Bama was with McCarron and A@M was with JM. We'll beat the dog piss out of auburn
Does Auburn ring a bell? They brought back one good RB, a QB that didn't start practice til the fall, barely throws, and a defense that gives up a ton of points.
We bring back a good and decent RB, the #1 overall player at RB (best RB recruit in a decade), 4/5 of our OL, a QB who has at least played some in the SEC the year previous with QB guru Coach Cam, and a slew of 4 star WRs, and the 10th and 2nd ranked WR recruits in the nation. Not to mention we return both our starting corners (one is moved to safety), our lock down corner, 2/3 of our starting LBs (with Debo who has played off and on for two years, and Beckwith who played some last year), Both starting DE, and anybody we put in the middle will equal or exceed production from last year. We brought in a loaded signing class and true freshman have been earning honors for us since 2008.
BTW, our crap defense ranked 15th in the nation.

Kwon will rock out with his cock out in 2014 and will be a 1st round pick in next years draft.

I would have to say huge to both.
I mean, I laughed when I saw the a&m part.

manziel didn't when he won. just shows you how great the sec is.
Manziel put up stats like gangbusters again in 2013, minus us. The SEC got raped by Manziel two years straight. I'm pretty sure if Manziel had Winston's run game and defense (I believe ranked #2 in the nation), he would have swept the SEC. That TAMU team was Manziel and nothing else.
He willed that team to the record it got by himself.

Why no love for Rasco, who was our best DE last year? Had as good a year as Mingo did the year before. Rasco is ready to blow the F up! You heard it here first. Write it down.
I agree rasco started a little slow but that was to be expected , I think he was great by the end of last season....
Along with hunter , Allen , and bowers I am excited about our d ends....

Having the same amount of sacks doesnt mean he had as good a year.
Mingo was constantly being blocked by 2+ guys. And still was able to get a lot of pressure on the QB. This past year was 1 of the worst we have had when it comes to getting pressure on the QB.
And Hunter was our best DE during the 2nd half of the year. Was really really good from the UF game on. I like Rasco a lot. But hes just not that explosive. Hes a solid DE.
And to the OP, Kwon was our best LB last year and a top 3 player on defense.

I liked Mingo, and I agree with your point that Mingo's penultimate season was better than Rasc's 2013, but Mingo was usually contained by one guy. What made him good was he occasionally beat that guy on passing downs, he never got pushed from his lanes on running downs, and he pursued better than almost anyone on the planet. I think Rasco is his equal on the first two, is good at the last, but not Mingo good. At DE Mingo is an 8, Rasco is a 7. Mingo would have been a 9, though, in a 3-4.

Most of the time, Mingo had an OT on him and a RB/TE/WR chipping him. So it might not have been a tradition double team, but he had 2 guys blocking him, especially on passing plays. Teams had to game plan for Mingo. Not so much for Rasco.
If Mingo is an 8 at DE, Rasco is a 5. And I like Rasco. Just think he came in with way too much hype out of high school. Hes not great at anything, but hes solid at all. But hes just not explosive.

Which shows the way we develop QB's. Look how the coaches tied our QB's hands in the bowl game but needed him to let it fly against Arkansas (a shame with all the time to prepare)
A Debbie Downer because of QB with 1 start??? What the hell did Jameis Winston do in his first year? Uh win the Natty

Uhh... we were losing to Arkansas when Jennings came in dude. And against the clock. And Arkys D was horrible. Did you expect us to run the ball in that situation? Just accept defeat because Mett got hurt? OK... makes a lot of sense. And Jennings only had 7 passes in the Arky game.
Iowa's D was complete opposite of Arkys. Very tough and solid and mistake free. And did you not see the way Hill ran the ball against them? Why would we throw it when we never really needed to? Plus it was wet. And when we did throw it, Jennings looked uncomfortable and had happy feet and had a few bad passes. If we would have passed a lot that game, we most likely would have lost. And Iowa would have turned up the heat and put the pressure on Jennings.
And Jennings had a lot of time to prepare, and still didnt look good. And its not like we threw it 8 times or whatever. We threw it 19 times that game. With Mett we averaged like 25pass attempts per game. Not a huge difference. And Jennings was 7/19 (37%) for 82 yards with an INT and 4 sacks. Its not like he was efficient when we threw it. He struggled against Iowa. And a lot of QB did. Iowa had a really good D last year. If Jennings looked comfortable and wasnt missing the easy passes that we was, we might have thrown it only a few more times.
Our game plan vs Iowa was very similar to the game plan vs UF, and that was even with Mett. Going against a team with a very good D but struggled on offense. You know youre not going to score a lot of points against them, and they wont score that much against you. Run the ball, dominate TOP, get their D tired. Which is what we did.
And about Winston... he was a RS freshman. Same with Manziel. Both guys were in their 2nd year. And please dont compare Winston / Manziel to Jennings.
