Unless you are striving for mediocrity. For instance:

Adolph Rupp ---- Rupp Arena
Record (major schools): 41 Years, 876-190, .822 W-L%
School: Kentucky (876-190)
Conference Champion: 28 Times (Reg. Seas.), 13 Times (Tourn.)
NCAA Tournament: 20 Years (30-18), 6 Final Fours, 4 Championships
NCAA Champion: 1948, 1949, 1951 and 1958

Pete Maravich ---- PMAC (the very best at the game)

Dale Brown ---- Please tell me what he did!!
Record (major schools): 25 Years, 448-301, .598 W-L%
Conference Champion: 4 Times (Reg. Seas.), 1 Time (Tourn.)
NCAA Tournament: 13 Years (15-14), 2 Final Fours

NCAA Champion: NOT EVER

Look, I remember Dale’s Tenure. He is celebrated because he was a charismatic figure who stood up for injustices. And the fact that some of his mediocre teams advanced further in the NCAA’s Tournament. You liked Dale if you were an LSU fan but thought he was psychotic if you were not an LSU fan.

Dale was a philosopher and historian. He was a motivator. Not the greatest basketball coach. Throw in a couple of FF runs and a “ Freak Defense” moniker and people ate that up.

If Trent johnson would had Dale’s record at LSU instead of Dale, Trent’s name would not be on the court.

In his prime, he was the active coach with the most consecutive NCAA tournament appearances- 10. He finished as the 2nd winningest coach in SEC history.
The PMAC was jammed and hopping. Get a clue about LSU hoops history

facts and common sense don't go over too well on this place, and we haven't really done shite since he retired either

Yup, he was more upset about it than Pelosi when Roe was overturned.

Remember when LSU was a basketball school when Brown was the coach and our football team was garbage? You probably are 25 years old and have zero clue what I am talking about.

Dale Brown is the most accomplished, and longest-tenured basketball coach in LSU history. That’s a fact. Another fact is that LSU’s basketball history is decidedly mediocre. At LSU, Brown stands out as head and shoulders above the rest of our mediocre coaches. We shouldn’t be naming floors for mediocre coaches, even if they were the best we’ve had so far.

Our fan base and administration are way, way too eager to retire numbers, commission statues, and name floors.

I guess it depends on what you mean by “changed.” Maybe he changed things in the late 70s/early 80s, but he failed to sustain the improvements he made. When Dale got fired, the program wasn’t appreciably different from what it was when he was hired. He’s not floor-worthy.

You are the very definition of cancel culture. Dale Brown brought a lot of excitement to LSU during his tenure, and a bunch of younger generational know alls are t going to change that no matter how much you cry. There’s a lot of good coaches thru the years that didn’t win championships either.

Involving “Timoday” with anything LSU does not make sense. Dale did more to promote LSU Basketball than anyone before or after him. Unfortunately, he had some issues at the end but he brought energy and excitement. He was at his best when they were underdogs. He’s a good man that has helped a lot of people, most who were down on their luck. A positive influence who tried to lift people up. Maybe all of us could try and emulate that behavior instead of being cynical, negative and destructive.

That, in fact, would be Harry Rabenhorst with 27 season. 1925-26 to 1941-42 and 1945-46 to 1956-1957, he missed 3 seasons to serve in WW2. Final 4 and sweet 16 in 52-53 & 53-54. Dale coached for 24 seasons.

I see. So I guess the next hire should be Tony Robbins.
