That's what all the objective LSU fans/alumni have been asking. (The ones not running around shaking their P + G pom poms and wearing lace covered cheerleaders panties)

LSU came within a hair of only winning 6 in the regular season. The main reason being that our 3 million $$ coach Didn't/Couldn't/Wouldn't hire an experienced Defensive Coordinator after Pelini left for Nebraska. Instead, he hired his beer buddy's, who turned out to be Co-Disasters.

Now LSU has to not only prove that it's still a national power, but has to fight the
"perception" that it's a program on the decline. Everybody is just patiently waiting (what other choice do we have) to see what kind of D Chavis is going to put on the field.

BTW, you Ole Miss arse clowns are funny. Yall come out of the woodwork in true Neandergump style after having only one season of success. Win a few championships and then yall can talk.

There's been many theories of why Les didn't try and hire an experienced DC instead of promoting the Mallavetos.

My take on it is the ESPN report of "Miles to Michigan" affected his decision in that regard.

FWIW IMO it was a blatant attempt by Herbstreit to sabotage the BCS title game in favor of his Buckeye alma mater.

The "Miles to Michigan" rumors also destroyed our recruiting that year, that class being by far the lowest of Miles's tenure at LSU.

Miles probably reasoned that by keeping the same staff minus Pelini, he would keep some continuity on defense, and allow himself more time to prepare for his first national title.

Also, the first question any potential DC would have asked would have been "Are you staying at LSU?" The same guys who might have come to LSU would not necessarily want to go to Ann Arbor.

We are going to have so much locker room material this year. These guys should have their lockers posted from floor to ceiling with newpaper articles about how terrible they are going to be and how the program is on the decline.
My boss is a delusional Ole Miss fan. I have been in my current job for about 6 years. Every year he tries, very convincingly, to make us all believe that this is the year for OM to win the NC. This year it is almost unbearable. I have heard the "I wished we played Florida this year" BS several times already. You just want to tell him Florida would a_ _ fu_ _ you guys if you played them this year. I don't say this because I realize it would only lead to more long delusional explanations of why they would beat Florida. I am ready for this year to come so we can restore the natural order of things. LSU close to the top and Ole Miss talking about next year and the 3 all american recuits that have given Nutt their verbals.

I think Ole Miss wins the West this year. Then they begin their slide back to the cellar of the SEC West as Nutt's recruits start to filter into the starting lineup.

You can be sure that LSU will be up for this game. Kudos to OM for last year. But, last year was last year. We will have a whole new set of circumstances leading up to this game...so enjoy it while you can.
