Louisiana leads the nation in NFL players per capita?

That's what I would have guessed.

Those states tend to have larger, football factory high schools. They play better football and are probably more disciplined, but the raw talent per capita in Louisiana is definitely better.
A lot of this has to do with racial demographics, of course, but I think Louisiana concentrates more on football than demographically similar states such as Mississippi, South Carolina, or the District of Columbia (not sure if it's being included here on not), so that's why LA would come out on top.

That's one of the reasons Saban came to LSU in the first place. LSU has no competition from in-state schools for a very good amount of talent.
Getting talent isn't the hard part at LSU.

The facts speak for themselves. The quality of HS Football in La. is greater than in all other states. Otherwise, we would not have the highest NFL per capita. Case closed.

California, Texas and Florida are ranked #1, #2 and #4 in population full of warm weather retirees. LA is # 25. Kids are going to migrate to sports that intereat them. CA, TX and FL have multiple franchises in all of the major sports. Golf, tennis and water sports are huge in CA and FL.
LA has always had the Saints and college football. Pro basketball comes and goes. No hockey....no MLB franchise. I don't think anyone should be surprised.

LA has every bit as good of youth and HS level coaching as Texas and other large states - it has proven it many times over the past 10 years with the interstate competition between top schools.

I don't think the quality of our food in Louisiana can be understated. High calorie foods in kids who are training makes them bigger. Bigger usually means stronger. Being strong is normally the most important aspect to sport specific training. Mix that with our racial demographics, and its not hard to see why we have so many go to the big leagues.

louisiana- 4.5 million people
texas - 25 million
California -36 million
Florida - 15 million
considering the strength of our high school teams, we match up unbeleivably well with those three states.
