inside the 5...ware should get all snaps

Mett to the bench until we
learn to pass in close to the goal line.
Ware looks tough to stop, plus he can pass
Thoughts?

This reminds me of 2010 Tenn. game
Lee drives all the way down the field, JJ comes in.
It's just bad for consistency to do it EVERY time. Give Mett a break. He knows what's wrong and I fully believe he'll work on it.

Also, I would like us to do something crazy near the goal line like Ware with Copeland and, yes, Bennie Logan to clear the path. You could have Jacobs at the line too in case you need a play action route to the end zone.

Better plan.
Give. the ball. to Mingo.

Maybe a TE cross route for him and Jacobs.

He did for a series last night and we failed to score a TD from the 6. We need to mix up the play selection so we aren't running against 9-man fronts.

I concur with the underlying premise
that Mett is not effective passing in short range.
He has the arm for the long ones, and looks NFL ready when he has to pass to the sidelines,
but in his first few games, he was hesitant, and short armed, and wobbled. Vs South Carolina he was better, and if he had not been better than the first few games, LSU would have lost.
But he is still not "there".
From the 10 on in, I would go to the best dual threat we have, and give two or three of them plenty of snaps before the Bama game.
We can work Mettenberger back into the short game act after he demonstrates real competence, which he will have to do anyway.
(there is always call for a short game, like in 3rd and 2.)
If we knew who the dual threat guys are who actually practice, we could carry on a better conversation. We dont know for sure what plays they would call for the wildcat guys. Not enough passing, I am guessing. I remember RS10's QB snaps. Taken down hard, like he was in the 5th grade and the opponents were in the 7th, BOOM! I remember this RS10 snap as QB:
He JUMPED! into a hole at the line, but he was snatched out of the air by someone LARGE who slammed RS10 to the ground like sack of potatoes.
So yes, Ware or someone who is a threat to both run and pass.
On short yardage, even in the middle of the field, like Tebow did, his freshman year.

I just wish they would give mett some opportunities to thrown in the redzone.

I'd like to see ware and ford in the shotgun running a zone read with ware at qb, or just run ware out of the gun like OU does with belldozer. I also like the idea of using Bennie or freak as an extra blocker.

Jacobs was in perfect position during the fade. If the pass would have been even decent he would have probably caught it. He's a big mismatch for the majority of defensive players

LSU just needs to start mixing it up a little.
Play action out of tight formations, slip a TE/FB into the flat or drag him across the formation.
Single back, quick slant.
Heavy backfield, fade (like they tried) and get Mett to make a pre-snap decision based on the CB's alignment wether to go far corner vs. back shoulder (stop fade).
Shotgun 4 wide, lead draw with Mett.
So many options. LSU has too many formation based tendencies at the moment. I think they'll find success when they start breaking the mold.

Why not bring in Rob Bolden or Jerrard Randle to run option?

D-coordinator's dream. Bring in a particular personnel grouping that you only run a couple plays out of. Straight up man coverage, bring safeties into the box, everyone has a single gap assignment, and you can easily disguise run blitzes.
You should be calling plays on saturdays.

Run the wishbone with Ware at QB, Copeland as lead back and Hilliard and Hill as the half-backs.
That would frick up a DC's week just trying to defend that game plan.
