He is an arse.

He did not even say goodbye to his team at Marquette when he left for Indiana.

Nick Nolte. The lockerroom blowups would be epic with this team.

Yes. A proven commodity

Much rather a young guy with unlimited upside

That guy could also have no upside.

There have been quite a few schools in the SEC who went after the "young up and comer", only to have it fail:

Anthony Grant - Alabama
Stan Heath - Ark.
Rick Ray - Miss. St.
John Pelphrey - Ark.
Tony Barbee - Auburn
Darrin Horn - South Carolina
Buzz Peterson - Tenn.

Billy Donovan has been the exception to the rule. Mike White is doing great this year, but it's only year two.

I don't mind taking a "young" guy if there are no great experienced candidates out there willing to come to your school for what you are willing to pay. However, the recent trend in the league has been to pass over the young unknown for the known commodity

Pearl at AU
Barnes at UT
Martin at USC
Howland at MSU
Anderson at Ark.

Still, it's all a crapshoot. You're just hedging your bets that a guy who has done it before, can do it again.

Crean (personality-wise) would be similar to hiring John Brady again. But he has won. He's been good at IU. The problem is "good" is not good enough there.

I think it would definitely be worth gauging his interest. In the end though, I don't think Alleva is good enough or savvy enough to pull off that kind of hire.

Frick no, Alleva isn't gonna hire someone like that...a proven winner? No, he will hire a proven below avg coach. With the current state of our administration, no way will money be there to hire anyone worth a damn.

It'll be stansbury or some other JJ type

Crean is a tool. Good recruiter, lousy in game coach and just a huge arse clown.

If Crean is let go, he would likely be the highest profile coach looking for a job. So he should be on the short list. Would be a good reboot for him and LSU.

He is one of the biggest a-holes in college sports but it's probably an upgrade

No... I would prefer we hire "one of our own".

As a fan of IU since The General presided over Assembly, I think you'd agree that Creany will not be fired. Alibi+Injuries=1 more year.

The buyout will be $1M in September and Alleva won't move on that. I passed by Bloomington the week of the Louisville game, and now, it's at epidemic volcanic levels.

The legendary New Albany High Hoops has had higher attendance figures then LSU this season, easily.

Call Coach Shannon and have him send a resume down here..

He's a NC St alum.

he can have Gottfrieds job.

of course, he'd have to compete vs Tarheels and Duke. there's that. no control of own state. no national appeal. LSU looks ok.

A tale of two fan bases ;

If Indiana could get Les Miles with a guarantee of success similar to his stint at LSU they would open the checkbook as wide as needed.

If LSU could hire Crean with the same guarantee of his success at Indiana they would open the checkbook.

Its all in perspective.

That depends. Can he underachieve anywhere close to the levels of JJ?

In hoops, underachieving at LSU and underachieving at Indiana are 2 different animals.

Personally, I would be more comfortable with a coach who has proven that he can underachieve at multiple schools. Crean had success at Marquette, so that puts him on the outside.

The real question is would Tom Crean take Alleva and the LSU admin...

IMO, LSU athletics is screwed as long as Alleva and Fking are around. Good coaches have many job opportunities. Who in their right mind would want to join the LSU shite show circus.
