No offense, but “somewhere around 7 ft” kind of sounds like a wild arse guess as opposed to you having some actual knowledge about what he jumped. Six and eight are around seven.

As an aside and fun fact, the US high school record is 7’6” by a kid from Oklahoma. Wow, that’s some hops.

The world record is just over 8 ft by a Cuban guy. What’s amazing about that is he did it in 1993. With kids getting so much bigger and stronger these days, many records do not last more than a few years. It’s hard to believe the high jump record was set 27 years ago.

It looks like Hilton was around 6’ 6””. That’s impressive too. When I was in grade school we still did the scissors kick high jump. Lol. I think I got 3 ft once.

none taken, I know he thinks he can get the state record which is 7'2". he's hit 7 in meets and practice, pretty sure the 6'6" and scissor kick stuff from this weekend was him knowing he had enough to beat the others

his dad was also state champ in the 400 m back in the day at Baker in late 80's. pretty cool to have a father/son duo State champs in same event.

He ran 50.71 in the 400.

His best high jump is 7 foot and a quarter inch. That's best in the nation right now.

Is he going to run track at LSU as well or stick to football

Granted it is hard to find legitimate high school track times, I'm not seeing anything to indicate he'd run at LSU.

High jump on the other hand... the LSU jumps coach better be doing some recruiting. He'd be a nice addition to an already stellar jumps group.

Just looking at some other times for LSU related recruits

Matthew Langois ran 7.28 60m in Div II. Did not qualify for the finals

Le'Veon Moss (22' recruit) ran 7.17 60m in the prelims. Did not qualify for the finals

Aaron Anderson 22' commit ran 7.03 in the Div I 60m. 4th place.

Ke’’travion Hargrove ran 6.96 60m for 2nd in Div I.

22' RB target Trevonte Citizen ran the 3rd leg on both the 4x200 and 4x400 state championship squad from Lake Charles College Prep in Div II.

Nah he’s not running at LSU, although he may jump if he chose to do so. Kayshonn was all in to run track as well but after the type of football season he had as a freshman he opted not to do so.

Good points. Its very cool his dad and he were state champs. Anyone who can high jump 6' 6" or 7' is an amazing athlete. Jumping is a great skill set for any wide out.

Some kids have poor track skills but make up for it with good football instincts. Some very fast track kids look great getting off the bus, but suck at football.

The best of both worlds is a tough kid with instincts and who wants the ball more than the other guy, but has the speed to outrun the other guys and the hops to get jump balls too.

Hilton sounds like he might have both. Imagine how greater than he is Jarvis Landry would be if he was fast and could jump 7 ft high.

1989 Chris Hilton 400m STATE CHAMPION.....2021 Chris Hilton 400m STATE CHAMPION ????????????

LINK

On Sunday, Hilton took home the LHSAA Division 1 State Championship in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.71 seconds. He entered the day with the top 400-meter dash mark in the state.

Hilton also finished in the top spot in the high jump, which comes as no surprise given he holds the nation's best mark of 7-feet, 1/4 inch. He's been a multi-time state champion in the high jump dating back to his freshman season when he cleared 7-feet.

you're right, He ran a 20.91 split in the 4 x 200. little different

even better than his athletic ability is his upbringing. he's not some shite head you'll see on the news.

Our incoming wr class is so much stronger than the previous one it’s crazy.

Deion smith- 4 star (96)
Chris Hilton- 4 star (96)
Brian Thomas jr- 4 star (95)
Malik Nabers- 4 star (94)

With either Brennan or Max throwing to them I expect our offense to score a lot of points through the air. Our OL returning was really important and I’m glad Ed got them to come back. Kayshon boutte and Deion smith on opposite ends with Hilton and Trey Palmer in the slot. That’s a lot of options for a qb to throw to.

Helps to jump like a freak of nature if you're a 5'11" WR

Hilton is going to be a beast for us.
