2006 class -- serviceable. The roster doesn't blow me away. These are the graduating seniors who grabbed the gold as sophs. No one on this list just got better and better. But I wish them all well, maybe even in the pros.

Yeah, but how many teams were playing well with a 19 year old true sophomore?

You're right in the sense that they play well without great QB's, but not in the sense that said mediocre QB's usually don't play until their redshirt JR or SR year. Slapping in a moderate talent as a true freshman who didn't even enroll early will hardly ever end well.

Also, what you are missing is that even though "countless" teams have done it, the percentage of failure for mediocre QB's is still really high. Even with 4 years to learn the system and practice with the college staff, Joe Cox was absolutely abysmal.

Just because it can happen doesn't mean it must happen.

Exactly what is his philosophy? I haven't figured it out and unfortunately I don't think he has either.

Only transitional year is 2005. 2006 is all Miles. Hell our team was top 5 and 11-2 after that season.

Miles took on a lot of risky players and screwed the pooch that year. If anything, his recruiting is over rated thanks to 2006.

We kicked almost every OL off the team from that recruiting class, kicked off a TE for beating a kid up, but let RP do 1000x worse and stay on the team. Further more we are struggling because Miles refused to recruit DL for DL, especially DTs. Our lack of depth there is a result of his short-sighted recruiting in 2006 and 2007 at that position.

QB is the biggest reason to question him in 2006. You always need 4 legit QBs on the roster. He rolled the dice and screwed the pooch and risked everything on RP.

That said, our biggest problems aren't recruiting on offense. It's on coaching. DL is the only part of the team where recruiting excused this seasons bull shite.

I've been reading peoples opinions on this site for a few years and I have found everyone has their own opinion about the way things should go. This site was designed for fans to voice their views. My opinion on how I see the team and coaches as well as what direction I would like to see them heading in is my opinion. I have never attacked anyone on this site because of their opinion. You unfortunatly have. You are a major PRICK . You keep teaching your english class and stand behind the keyboard where your safe.

I stand behind Coach Miles for the next 2 years unless we have 2 losing seasons then all bets are off.

Well said.
Don't know what you think, but the level of negativity seems to get worse by the week. I used to look forward to checking The Rant daily to stay conversant w/All Things LSU Sports (which helps me w/my now part-time job). And, many times the angry exchanges were actually funny and entertaining, like watching pro wrestling.

Now, it's as if there's some kind of contest to buzz-kill almost every thread, and there's less inside-info or even well-informed opinions. Don't get me wrong, I'll live. Also, my wife and I actually met 8 Ranters and some of their families at four LSU games this season, and all of them were cool (some of whom we're going to hook up with at the C. One Bowl and next season's opener in GA).

In between those games will be next yr's Fan Day. If the not-so-happy Ranters can survive their misery by then, I'd be very surprised. I mean, if LSU loses its bowl game, this whole deal will implode.

I do feel bad for Chicken, the Iceman and the great people who make this site possible, 'cos they deserve to cut in line in Heaven for putting up with so much b.s. 24-7-365.

In 3 years LSU has signed 48 kids rated 4 or 5* by rivals. Out of that 48, 14 are no longer on the team.

Florida by contrast has signed 56 and only 7 are no longer on the team.

Bama is similar to Florida in the fact percentage wise they are lower attrition rate than LSU.

In your opinion how does this show LSU can remain competitive with these 2 schools when currently Auburn/Arkansas/and even Ole Miss are recruiting better than previous years and in the East Georgia and Tennessee are right there.

Seems the gap between Florida/Bama and LSU is widening while gap between LSU and rest is getting narrow.

I would love to hear your in depth analysis of why LSU will finish fourth. Please include depth chart analysis and matchup strengths and weaknesses. Why in the hell would you be so pessimistic?

I do not have a want for any further "analysis" of anything from this dude.

Besides, I think you ended him with your post, which was as close as you can get to an online autopsy...

Not to mention what happened last year.

Yeah, we're SO far behind Alabama the past 2 seasons. Truly, a game of inches.

Not that I take any enjoyment from this, but its fitting that that this year and last, LSU's final play was an interception from J. Lee.

That ain't gonna happen next season.

This concept makes me even more scared. We have to wait 7 years to see his talent perform to the standards LSU has set. This theory make no sense to me........Miles isn't a good coach and can't even hire excellent top assistant talent either. Seems like he is scared to hire the top guns they make take over his job once we reveal he is an "Imposter" as a good SEC coach.
