I tried telling some LSU fans last year how good Jacoby Jones was, and they gave me "he will have to earn his worth" and "he plays for a 2A school so his numbers are inflated"

you didn't have to tell me I was sold back in 2008.

Mainieri has said he wants to keep him in the 9 hole to let him adjust to the game...whatever that means. He'll be in the middle of the order before long

that means he hasn't faced that much college pitching yet. it will make a big, even huge, difference when he sees the SEC starting guys that are very proficient at off speed stuff and esp. hard sliders. also, every pitch he faces will be tracked with the hopes of finding his weakest pitch. even if it doesn't look like it, the kid has some growing to do.

he is the tits, quite possibly has tiger blood flowing through his veins and is more than likely a warlock

Where do y'all think he should be batting? Everyone keeps saying to move him up so he can get more at bats. If he moved up to 6th, he would maybe get 5 more at bats in a month than what he gets in the 9 hole.

I personally think that if we keep putting up these kind of numbers, why change it?

How did we manage to land Jacoby? Didn't follow his recruitment that closely.

He wanted to play for a big time school or sign which basically elimated every school in Mississippi...

Wanted to make it to Omaha, so that ruled out 1 automatically.

It’s my policy not to second guess Paul Mainieri until we suffer our first loss.

I like having Jacoby in the 9 spot. It's like the 08 season when Mainieri had Schimpf there. It never allows opposing pitching staffs to relax and turns over the lineup very well.

I'm sure with him being in the 9 spot he sees more fastballs. If they moved him to the middle he would more likely see a lot more junk.

Why do people always want to screw with what's working?

In the 9 hole, he gets 8 batters to look at a pitcher. I say leave him where he's at until it stops working.

I never thought his talent was a big secret and I'm not surprised he is playing well against the caliber of opponent we have faced so far.

It's early to make proclamations of any sort.

But the kid can flat out play, I'll give you that much.
