He's older and more mature than Ehlinger....that alone counts for something. Ehlinger will take ill-advised risks at times.
Again, I love Burrow and what he brings to our team. But there's nothing resembling an objective measure to back up what you just said. Both Burrow and Ehlinger had 5 INTS last year while Ehlinger had 46 more pass attempts, completed 64.7% of his passes to Burrow's 57.8% and Ehlinger had 9 more TD passes than Burrow.

IMO this Texas game will be similar to Miami
I disagree. Miami was obviously overrated. Texas has been getting steadily better every single year since Herman took over and they have a third year starting QB and the #3 recruiting class last year and it's at Austin and not a neutral site.

Their offense will be legit, but it will be going against what is most likely our best defense in years.
Our offense vs. their defense is where this game will be decided. They've lost 8 or 9 senior starters on defense and we'll be trotting out a whole new scheme. Lots of questions for both teams and whoever answers them best, wins the game.

It's not going to be like Miami but it'll probably be one of those games where the scoreboard is close but it never really felt like one of the teams actually had a chance to win.

LSU's rushing attack will determine this game. If Burrow has to throw more than 30+ that is bad for LSU. Don't want a shootout style game in Austin. We want to control the clock and wear Texas down.

I think Texas is actually a bit overrated at this point because of their beat down of a UGA team without any fight in them and the fact the media has just disregarded the fact they lost 8 or 9 seniors on the most experience laden unit in the country.
But, Herman is a great coach and will have them hyped. Their QB and offense will be a very good early test for our defense.
I think we win, but it's going to be very close. I really wish we had Cole Tracy. I trust the new kid, but Cole was nails in big moments on big stages.

I'm going to save my prediction for the week of as I see it going one of two ways.
If I see what resembles a modern offense in our warm-up game, I will have full confidence that we will blow Texas out by 30+ and tRant will immediately begin looking forward to November. Prophecies of a scorched earth campaign will amass.
If our offense looks like its usual self, maybe even with a couple tweaks, then I think LSU builds a comfortable lead but lets Texas climb back in it late. LSU coasts to a win but the scoreboard doesn't reflect the disparity that we witnessed.

It's not the same at all. Miami was already on a major down last year after its bowl loss; Texas is looking up, up, up after trouncing Georgia in the Sugar.
Texas on their home field presents a quantum level greater challenge than playing an upstart opponent on an LSU-friendly neutral field.
And never underestimate the Herman effect: he has instilled an infusion of optimism and renewed confidence, may I say cockiness, into a program that was languishing in mediocrity. Whereas, Miami coached by Richt, a second Les Miles, was the epitome of mediocre.

We are going to hit them in the mouth.
That will be it

It's much more difficult to stop UT's offense than it would appear, and this is Ehlinger's third year in the system. They will be tough to stop.
Their defensive coordinator is one of the best in the game, particularly in pressuring the QB. Yes, they are replacing a bunch of players on defense, but the replacements are probably more talented than the ones they are losing (although obviously not as experienced).
Herman also excels when he's the underdog; he's excellent at motivating his players in big games. They tend to play down to their competition when favored.
LSU will not beat UT handily. No team has done that against Herman, particularly in Austin.
This game will be close.

Herman's stats as an underdog are incredible
Talk radio here in Austin truly believes we have no offense and that their QB play is superior to ours. Even with a depleted defense they are excited about what they are putting on the field.
They have no idea what's coming their way. Can't wait. Tigers 31 Horns 17

quote:You under estimate the Austin Texas Memorial Stadium fans. There will be no room in the FACILITY I estimate over 100, 000 additional Texans standing, drunk & on F.I.R.E.!!
I see it being a relatively close game, but us pulling away late due to depth and experience. A young but talented texas team will need time to gel and game 2 won't be it.

They lost their whole team and are now desperate for grad transfers.
They still have equal talent to LSU, just inexperienced at several locations.
LSU wins in the experience department.

They were ranked in the top 10 and thought they were playoff bound, their fans sure didn’t think they were on a down swing as it was 50/50 in Jerry World. They were pretty sure they were gonna blow LSU away....
Sure it’s at Texas, but that Big 12 atmosphere isn’t exactly terrifying.
Tigers by 2 scores

quote:nonsense. Miami was a fraud, and had lost their last 3 games the previous year, all by double digits, and their QB was suspect. And that was all borne out in 2018, where they changed QBs mid-season, finished with 6 losses, and their coach quit.
Us playing an overhyped opponent and they will get the media attention, and we will give them a massive beat down
Texas ain't any of that.

Actually there is on my end. I have the Longhorn Network and watched all but two of their games....(I'm a native Texan with a mild interest in their program.)
The numbers dont always tell the whole story. SE threw several ill-advised passes last year. Just because they weren't picked off, doesnt mean they were the smart play.
He's a gunslinger. He's impulsive and has more leeway in Herman's system to freelance than Burrow does in ours.
Can I prove what I said ....no...but I'd venture to say most of the posters here did not follow UT at all except maybe in the OU game.
