Think back to '03. Oklahoma was loaded with big filthy's on defense. Many of those guys went to the League. They had Heisman winner Jason White under center and the nation's most prolific offense...

And they got owned by a Saban-coached LSU team in the BCSNCG. Oklahoma has had times where they had the whole package and still lost the big one, or failed to get there... lost NCG's to LSU, USCw and Florida while they had legit national top 10 defenses.

And that's probably a good part of the reason they don't get the best defensive recruits any more.

Imagine Oklahoma not buying a Heisman Quarterback.
Wonder who will be under contract next season?

Correct but they don't have Saban. I think they recruit well on defense. They just don't coach it well

Why is everyone giving Oklahoma credit for Alabama shutting it down after they got the 28-0 lead. I watched the game on the ESPN coaches room and all of the coaches were saying the same thing. Herm Edwards knew exactly how many more possessions Oklahoma would have if Alabama ran clock and he was right on the money. Oklahoma played hard i'll give them that but thats it.

People are giving Oklahoma credit because they started moving at will on the Bama defense.

Bama slowed their offense to run, and didn't get stopped. That's true. But Saban didn't intentionally allow Cede Lamb to destroy Patrick Surtain in coverage all night, nor did he "allow" Kyler Murray to throw for 300 and run for 100.
Oklahoma got blitzed and had to adjust, and that killed them. Once they got rolling, they hung in there. If they would have been ready, that's a good tight game.

Clemson should be ready from the start, but I don't know that they can move like Oklahoma can. And although they have a better defense, I don't know how much that matters, since Tua's just obscene. Only LSU and Georgia made him look normal.

They would still suck on offense. Kyler Murray wouldn’t be Kyler Murray. The system that LSU has run for the past 15 years has under performed because it doesn’t allow for athletes to grow and show what they are capable of.

LSU needs to find a HC that is like Lincoln Riley. Someone who is an offensive genius and can out scheme opposing defenses instead of out talenting them.

OU would have 0 CFP appearances if they played in the SEC like LSU has to. Especially the SEC West.

OU has tons of talent on offense. Don’t kid yourself. They put QB’s, WR’s, RB’s, TE’s, and OL into the NFL on a yearly basis.

They just don’t take any time to focus on their defense and get it up to par.
